You don't have to know what will go on the upper part of the wall. Prep and prime it and you'll be ready when you decide. I think you can use that medicine cabinet if it is something you love. I'm not sure how to judge your "is it too much" thinking though -- do you really love it? As far as size, make sure you have the height for it with lighting that you like. Include the height of your vanity, the splash, some room above that, the mirror and then see what you have left for lighting and clearance above and below. I would like the wider mirror, but if your ceilings are low, you may need to go shorter. If the mirror fits, what would you think about getting some rub n silver from the craft store and adding some silver highlights to the mirror and lightening it up a bit? If you like that idea, go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's and get some of that rub on silver (yep -- use your finger even), and give it some highlights. That might soften it a bit and tie it in to your lighter room. If you've never done anything like that, find something to practice on -- a picture frame, a flower pot or vase - something that you can play with and see how it works on edges and details. For lighting. look at the fourth row of that Ferguson's lighting link, look at the Feiss Claridge. That could follow the shape of the top of the mirror and it might be nice to bring in another curve rather than a straight line. Personally, I like a three light fixture most of the time. It's that odd number thing, plus, if that is the main source or only source of light in the bathroom, I think it's better to have the ability to have more light and tone it down with a dimmer or smaller bulbs if you need to or want to. As far as the toile, it's hard to say not seeing the space and what you have. It might look great, but you keep your other elements in mind. Glad you kept the grout light. I do think that the floral idea will work better than some other toile patterns because of the round and flowing lines. The ones that are tiny sketches scattered could wind up looking like one more liner element. All I can tell you about the creaminess is that I can't tell you anything from my monitor. You'll have to look at the different elements together. You should be able to order a sample of the wallpaper and you might want to try a few to compare.

We're starting our master bath renovation in July and it's time to start making some design choices. This is a TINY (6'x7') bath in a 1898 Victorian foursquare home. We are not slaves to Victorian-era décor but I do want to use materials that generally look like they belong in a house of this age. Here's the proposed layout: As you can see, there's not a lot in the way of floor space, but what there is will be tile. I plan to tile the two walls of the shower enclosure floor-to-ceiling, along with the shower side of the brick chimney stack (we may or may not tile the vanity side of the chimney). Remaining shower enclosure will be glass; shower floor will be tile. Outside of the shower, I have considered using the shower tile to tile the walls up to wainscot height, but my contractor also suggested that beadboard or another decorative wooden wainscoting might be a nice alternative to tile. I am open to this option but I want to make sure I don't have TOO many different things going on in such a small space. Style-wise, I want to keep it somewhat simple but I am sick to death of white subways. I'm fine with some white, but I want to focus on soft greys and blues/greens/aquas in this bathroom. I really love the look of encaustic tiles and while I understand that true encaustics aren't suitable for wet environments, I'd love to find a porcelain look-a-like for the room floor, something like this: For the shower floor, maybe grey pennies: And then I get stuck. Coordinating grey subways for the shower, perhaps with grey wainscoting on the walls? Or pale blue subways in the shower and white wainscoting? Something else that's NOT subways? Marble hex on shower floor and walls? The choices are overwhelming, especially since my budget range can be pretty wide since I don't really need much in terms of square footage. I haven't chosen a vanity yet but I am planning on something grey with a white/grey marble or quartz top, most likely (and will use the same material for shower curbs/door saddle). We're adding a slightly larger master suite (20x26) that also includes reconfiguring the original space to create a hallway entrance next to an existing hall bath. Our architect configured the space so that the new master bath abuts the existing hall bath, presumably to minimize the plumbing work etc, as in the 2nd sketch by @er612. She also aligned the new master closet with the existing space which just helps as a sound buffer. The rest of the layout was decided based on views - optimal placement of windows, strategic placement of the bathroom door, having wall space for a TV if you want that.

From a budget perspective moving the windows and radiator is $$! I don’t think it gains you much other than a bigger bathroom where you might be able to squeeze a stacked mini W/D - but then the aisle space by the bed shrinks even more (with radiator right next to bed)….also, you have to think about what the exterior would look like with the asymmetry - so, I don’t think any major architectural shift makes sense (other than the entry to the room so 🤷‍♀️).
