What do you expect from your roses?

What kind of expectations do you have of your roses? I have never shovel pruned a rose, but I have come close. I seem to get very attached to them, if the blooms are pretty and it's a decent bloomer, I'm not doing away with it. My Firefighter and Francis Meilland that were both very stingy the first couple of years did better their third season, both bushes are healthy and I am hopeful they will both continue to improve. I will admit that most of the time I'm not that crazy about Buxom Beauty, but in the spring it puts out a few beauties like this - and it's so fragrant, how can I get rid of it?

I know some if you have more limited space than I do, I understand why you would do away with an under performing rose. So far I haven't had any that I hated so much or they were so disease prone that I would do away with them. I think I struggled for so many years to be able to achieve the results I do now, that's why I cherish and love them all so much!
