i have a few P's that haven't bloomed yet. I added a Penny's Worth after Nancy's comments about it last season, no picture, end of the season sale here also.

Comments (51)Mantis- I've been able to find many earlier Ellison introductions, but not so much with his latest. I think Bob just sells seedlings now on his website. I have bought two of his seedlings, both very nice. One was later registered. I found several of Bob's lilies at Hornbaker's Garden, including some not registered and listed by their garden name. Also, Nate Bremer at Solaris Farms sells quite a few registered Ellison daylilies, including PROFOUND LOVE. She is a cross between two of Bob's benchmark introductions; STUNNED BY GRACE and FOR YOU ONLY. All three are beautiful diploids with the classic Ellison ruffles....See MoreP and Q daylilies 2021

8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoSo many "P's." I have/had Pink Lemonade Party, but it seemed to disappear after last winter. Peakcock Maiden I tried to eliminate, as it had too many bad blooms.
Pearlfisher Pink --an old Kirchhoff
Passion for Red --very reliable and brilliant, though not a lot of buds.
Pastel Classic --reliable, shorter
Polar Fizz
Part-Time Princess --unproven
Palace Garden Beauty --short, not fully tested here
Parade of Peacocks --a bit too close up, as the impact in the garden is not so great as this picture.
Pumpkin Prince --showy and well budded, but blooms can be slow to open fully
Purify My Heart --fewer blooms last yearPure and Simple --usually reblooms later after a quite early bloom

Paris Silk ---like most Munsons, doesn't like afternoon sun
Princeton Grape --very difficult to capture this arresting color
Panda Bear --reblooms and heavily budded, but blooms beneath foliage
Pat Garrity --very early, brilliant, but terribly budded. Sometimes will give a few blooms later in the season. This clump is in a bucket at a yard sale, waiting for a new owner for $5. Enough is enough!
Panama Hattie --not the best picture of this one, which I like
Punxsutawney Phil --sometimes reblooms, tall

8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoWonderful spring like temps today. Makes me want to finish cleaning up the gardens. I know it won't last but we will enjoy what we can get on the last day of January.
PATTERN EVOLUTION - does extremely well here.
PEACHES AND GOLD -
PEARL HARBOR - taken late in the day
PENNY PINSLEY - didn't do as well as prior years. Guess it doesn't like the extreme cold and mounds of snow.
PHILISTINE CHAMPION - new last year and has not had time to get going but it shows great promise to have nice tall scapes and good bud count. Moving it this spring to be with the rest of the Korth intros.
PIEDMONT PALEFACE - a bit disappointed with it this past year so perhaps
it may not like the extreme cold and mounds of snow we had last winter.
PRAGUE SPRING - this one starts opening the evening before and is typically fully open when I go out early in the AM to take pictures. It needs dividing but not sure I'll have time this spring to do it.
PINEWOOD ONLY IMAGINE - jury is till out on this one.
PINK AT THE BALLET - moved it the fall of 2014 and the scapes came up shorter and it bloomed much later than typical for it.Still well budded.
PINK WHIP TIPS - I really think this deserved a better name from Hanson.Always tall and well budded.

8 years agoSherry, here is Penny's Worth, a 17 year veteran here. Went through a lot, being overgrown and in too much shade, no care for years, but this year I took her out, divided, and replanted in a good spot. Three nice flushes, the last one in October/November. I used to grow her behind Calamintha nepeta nepeta, and in the fall the blooms would peek out from among a cloud of softest lilac. Will have to do that again. This picture shows a remnant left in the old spot. I don't have a good picture of the new planting.

8 years agoMantis, Pink Braid is absolutely lovely and I love it for it's beauty and hardiness. Planted in a neglected part of the garden in less than ideal conditions it doesn't have great bud count.....so to be fair I can't evaluate what it would do in an ideal setting. As for Portofino, mine blooms as registered, at around 32 inches in height.

Penny's Worth
What a blooming machine this mini is! I have had it for many, many years and it never fails to perform. It starts to bloom early and is still blooming after it has been snowed on. It will take a break for perhaps 4 or 5 days a couple of times a season to recover from blooming its little heart out. Sherry you will never regret getting this one!
p.s. I have no pic of Paprika Flame. I quite like it. Pic anyone?

8 years agoLots of great flowers! So many nice ones it hard to pick out a favorite. Party Pinafore catches my eye because it is so rounded, and Purple Grasshopper for it deep dark color.
Paige's Pinata. Does fairly well most years.
Past Forgetting. Smaller than I like but puts on a show and spreads rapidly.
Pastures of Pleasure. Does well. One of my favorite pinks. I tend to get tired of my pinks, but not this one!
Peach Candy. Does well unless split; takes a couple of years to get going.
Peacock Maiden. Does very well.Persian Ruby. Does well.

Pink Lantis. Very reliable. Not in any daylily data base. Bought by a friend at a Philly show.
Pony. Took a few years to find the right spot for it, has done fairly well since.
Prairie Blue Eyes. Old reliable!
Primal Scream. does well.
Priscilla's Rainbow. Has good years and very bad years. Pretty enough to keep.
Purple Riot. Sometimes much darker purple than this. Has a ton of buds but blooms out quickly with quite a show. Very slow to increase.

8 years agoPat Garrity may have a low bud count in our garden, but the color is so good it will stay.
I wish Peppermint Pinwheel looked like this all the time. Usually the thrips get to it.
Perfectly Peachy Pie was photographed in Georgia last summer. We loved the glowing color.
Picture in a Picture was just planted here. I hope it is hardy.
Pikes Peak was photographed on our trip south last May.
Pineapple Bites was newly planted last spring and did not disappoint.
Pinewood Light in the Darkness is shorter than we like but has quite a nice edge.
Pixie Paint Brush is a cute small-flowered one.
Playing with Sharks has been one of our favorite toothy ones. It is a good bloomer and quite hardy.
Pomegranate Lemon Aide is an interesting bitone.
I have a few more that I will post when I can.

8 years agoI am finally getting around to posting the rest of my P's and Q's.
Here's my Prickled Petals.
Puffer Fish is a lot taller than its siblings Heavenly Pink Fang and Buzz Saw.
Pumpkin Moonshine is one of our favorites. It blooms fairly early and is such a bright color.
Purple Peek-a-boo was new to the garden last spring.
Put-in-Bay is more in Bob's range of colors.
Quiet Wyatt is my only Q to post.
