A late birthday gift ( or an early Christmas)
Comments (20)Bernd, thanks for the nice comments. I don't remember how many seeds I grew to get these. I usually grow between 2000 and 10,000 seeds in any given year. A lot of times one cross will work really well and it is harder to cull, while other crosses may give you only a couple keepers or none at all. I'm guessing I grew between one and two hundred seeds from the IAT x Komodo Dragon cross. As far as stability goes, the ones with the cream border and the white center are probably the closest to stable plants. Streakers may settle to an edge or medio pattern quickly or it may take years. Even ones that stay streaked for years generally eventually have eyes that start to settle and take some effort to keep them a streaked plant. Dan P.S. Here's one more IAT x Komodo Dragon seedling from that same "batch" This post was edited by dansgrdn on Sat, Oct 26, 13 at 18:43...See Moreneed birthday gift ideas quick!
Comments (10)Can you get in touch with a nice restaurant in Branson and make reservations for a nice meal and tell them that you will pay for it? That would be nice along with the travel package. Although some people are fans of gift cards, I am not. Frankly I don't think they show much imagination and maybe I don't shop at that store. It puts more of a burden on me when I get a gift card to a specific store, As I have to keep track of the card, have to find something there I like, and just remember that I have it to use. I am not suggesting that it's not generous and that it's not a good gift for some people. I just choose not to use them and don't really like getting them. Of course, I am appreciative of any gift that anyone get me and I am grateful for their gift, but gift cards just don't do it for me. To me, it just seems as though the giver didn't care to put any more thought into it and took an easy way out. Call me crazy. Put a little more thought into it for some creativity, and I would expect that would be much more appreciated. Can you set it up with your father ahead of time, so that you have some idea of your plans in Branson and when they would be available for an extra special dinner at an extra special restaurant? Of course, by the time you read this, it will be too late. I was hoping that you could at least tell her that you would be giving her that special dinner and then make specific arrangements later. Sorry that I am reading this too late....See Morebirthday gift for two year old who has a lot of stuff already
Comments (44)if u don't want to go the book route, how about a savings bond?? u pay $25 and in 15-20 (i forget which) years its worth $50., i know its doesn't sound like a lot but we did that for our kids since birth. for my oldest it paid half of her college bill in junior year. had the whole family on board and everyone did it when they were too little realize they really didn't "get" anything.. everyone always got them a little something to go with it, so when they we knew they should get presents, they had something to open.. the amounts go as high as $500 i think. did it for every occasion, it really adds up!!! $500 bond, $1,000 in allotted time plus interest if u hold onto them past the mature date.......See MoreBirthday gift- home office makeover
Comments (18)As others have said, an office can be quite personal, so major things probably require more knowledge about the type of work and how it is used. Some smaller things I have found helpful: I also have three screens and have found that a curved desk works well with them. I don't know how feasible that is if you want a stand-sit option. By using a USB dock, I can use all three screens for both the work laptop and the home PC and just switch between them. That only works if you are not needing to use both computers at the same time. It means the laptop can stay closed and sits under one of the monitors. A keyboard tray under the desk frees up vital (for me) desk surface space and helps keep the keyboard at the right height for typing. Similarly, monitor stands mounted to the back of the desk make it easier to move applications between screens and create a bit more space on the desk. I have given up on wire clutter. My workaround is to attach a panel to the back of the desk and trail all the wires between the panel and the wall. Not easy to clean, though....See More- 10 years ago
