I have Marvel 24". I chose it because it seemed to hold more than any of the others. I use it for produce, but also wine, juice and milk. It works very well. And it's true that you can put tall bottles upright in the lower drawer. As far as I can tell it holds temperature fine, but I haven't measured. The produce stays fresh as well as in my Miele fridge. Cons: It's true that it is noisy, especially when it's first cooling down. It doesn't cycle on that often, and in a busy kitchen it's not bad, but in a family room or similar it might be too loud. Also, the gasket on the lower drawer is kind of puffy and it doesn't line up quite right. I'm sure I could get someone out to try to fix it, but I've had too much else to do. Or I might be stuck with it. It's no big deal. Just a minor irritation. In a more prominent location it would be another story. I agree with Lascatx on the Perlick reputation for quality.

We looked around for several months for the same thing and ended up buying an Edgestar wine fridge from Compact Appliance. Came in at ~$700. It has a 46 bottle capacity, dual zone, and seems to hold temperature very well (we've had it running for about 6 weeks now). The model # is CWR460DZ. If the house is quiet you can hear it running now and then, but not anymore than a normal refrigerator.

We have the Elux. It's been trouble free since 2006 (when we bought it). It is not noisy, but is nowhere as silent as our JA Fridge, (which I just can't tell if the thing is running). I can tell if the Elux wine fridge is running --- so ----- I'm not deaf (yet)! I think one of the reasons the JA is sooo quiet is it uses the variable speed compressor. I believe the "Upper end Models" of the Perlick also use the variable speed compressor, so were I looking for a wine fridge today, a "Must Have" would be the variable speed compressor---why?? Quieter operation, better control of wine temps, more efficient etc etc. Do a search for VSP, or variable speed compressor, at the bottom of the main appliance page on GW, to see all the post showing the advantages of the "VSP". Good luck with your decision, We hope you are as happy with your choice as we are---even if I can hear the thing--but I have to "tune in to it" so not obtrusive! Gary

Have you looked at drawers? Some won't do the liter bottles, but many will, at least in one of the drawers. I have ale in mine, and sometimes wine or juice. Even though you're looking from above, it still works fine for me. I generally keep the holder cartons in for ease of organization, a different bottle, or an occasional onion, will go in an empty spot.
