LR help...I'm afraid to ask opinion but here goes!
Comments (34)I have to say that I am not crazy about the round table in the middle of the chairs. It feels like the arrangement is fighting the shape of the room and the rug. Don't know if this would work, but I would turn the rug to run the other way in the room - long side running parallel to the double windows on the end. Then place the chairs side by side on each of the long sides of the rug - on square, not angled. Tables and good sized lamps between each set of two chairs for drinks, etc. No table in the middle. By keeping the seating toward the left side of the room ( as we look at the last floor plan), it would allow bookshelves to go on the long wall to the right of the window at the top of the floor plan. One other thing, just for grins. If the four chairs are identical in size and design, just different in color, I might try switching out the cushions - light cushions on dark chair frames, and vice versa. I think it will create a sense of greater continuity between all the seating....See MoreTrying this again, what am I doing wrong?
Comments (18)I wouldn't worry about putting anything in the area above the cornices you're taking down. The focus should be on the view outside. I think it might be a good idea to place the sofa on the opposite side and the two light chairs on this side. This would make for a more inviting view. A small table between the two chairs would add more interest and give a parking spot for drinks or small food plates. The lamp between your two chairs seems too short for a living room lamp, and I would choose a new one with a thinner base to give you more room on the table and it will also look better. Perhaps a fairly thin metal base of some kind would suit this area better. Since this room seems a little dark I would think about getting a lighter-colored rug and also a larger one so that your chairs are sitting on it completely. The visual of the chairs from the side will be much more pleasing. I think this area needs some warm accents like yellow, gold and terracotta to play against all the cool colors you have, and you might think about changing your pillows. Your rug could also have some of those colors for a warmer, friendlier look....See MoreI need help! Dont know how to decorate or pick furniture/paint for LR
Comments (136)So I am going. to read through all of these suggestions afain! MIL is coming back in town so we want to just order something for the dining table so its already done and she doesnt try to talk my husband out of it (he is a pushover, lol) I actually saw some chairs at tuesday morning as a for now fix, do you a fhink the actual table is that bad,? because I guess we are just trying to find the right thing and dont want tocwaste tons of $$. do yall know if paint is expensive? have any of you done it by yourself.? I saw an article about how to save on smaller stuff like rugs and coffee tables I am going to look into! Dining table is a biggie. But I def want to keep the room so that it could match any paint color (like a white maybe, or grey) a coffee table and area rug. so whatever we bring in will work. i am going to re-look into ikea and post some pics too. Comments (78)The more I think about it, the more I like the idea. The principal (or the head of the guidance department) will know who is trustworthy, and they can tell you what is a fair wage too. They can even email you photos of bunting decorations for their proms, etc decor and tell you who the students were who were on those decoration committees that might be interested in looking for work. This would not be the right time for you to fall off a ladder, or strain your back from overwork. This would also be helpful for you for later on too, as you might find the strong young man with his friends to rearrange your furniture (for a higher wage) as you change your mind a few times, to mow your lawn, to shovel your snow, and maybe even do some of the gardening. (Just be sure to check the location of the in ground irrigation, the water lines and all other utilities and clearly mark them before you give anyone a shovel.) The energy of older teens is awesome, and their work ethic and ambition should be encouraged, too....See Moredeeinohio
