I don't have a pic, but have a cherry tilt top Drexel table between 2 leather club chairs in our den. I've had it about 30 years and it's one of my favorite pieces. I think it's 30 inches in diameter, but I'm not there to measure.

Mine isn't pie crust, but I LOVE pie crust. I see a lot of these tables used, so I think you can eventually find one you like better.

My son just overruled the large table with the small one in front - it will block doggie's view. She spends all day there looking out.

I wonder how you would play scrabble without having to turn awkwardly sideways. Perhas a rectangular or small oval coffee table in front of the chair would better serve that purpose.

Ingrid - We usually play it in FR. If we did play a game in there, I'd just turn the chairs a bit. I was thinking more the size of the table to accommodate a game board, if we wanted to play a game there.

I read somewhere that round tables with tablecloths were coming back. My mom had this type of chair arrangement in her house, and had a variety of options over the years. There are some higher tables available, like the round ones pictured but also square ones of that height. My mom actually got two square ones, one was what was known as a "TV table" because the top swiveled. Later, she put a round plywood top on one of the square ones and covered it with a floor length tablecloth. Then later, she got the nesting type tables, which instantly sprung to mind when I read this post. Another suggestion, IMHO, would be to look for something called a "tea cart." My mom has an old one and I intend to refurbish it eventually for use between the wingback chairs. If you google "tea cart" for images, you will find everything from the sublime to the truly weird! Here's one, kinda like your inspiration photo, although I am a fan of the weirder ones.

Notice the tall chair backs in all the photos. I think that's what makes this look work. In your photo the chest dominates over your chairs, making them look small. I think taller chairs would be better proportionally with the large piano and tall windows. Can you show the whole room?

Never really thought about it before - but my chairs do look out of scale.

We purchase all of our casegoods from Lee Industries - Not sure if new chairs are in the budget right now.

But I think you are 100% right. Higher back chairs will fit the space much better.

Ipink -- I like the tea cart idea! I googled and saw some metal ones I liked too.

We have a skirted table in our bedroom that currently needs a new home. I'd have to get a new cover for it - but that's another good idea!

Nosoccer - love it. But I tend to agree with May that my chairs need to be switched out for taller ones.

Carol - thanks. My husband likes the idea of nesting tables a lot. Sometimes he has opinions, mostly he leaves it up to me. :)

I like the idea of a skirted table, I think w/the piano, the room could get very leggy.

I really like the color of the wall in this room. It's rich and yet somehow soft. Very nice.

I like that a lot too. I do think that the taller chairs will fit the room better. I have a lot of tall pieces in there - and the chairs do look a little squatty. Funny how I never noticed that before. But that's what you guys are for - right?

Ingrid - that color was a stretch for me. One of my friends talked me into it - and I love it.

I went bold in my office - which is across the foyer from the LR. It's one of my favorite rooms in the house. (when it's not a cluttered mess)

The darker blue in the leaf is very close to the color in the LR.

I have a Sheridan table between my two wing back chairs that we open up for chess, scrabble and cribbage. It is just like this.

Personally, I don't think your chairs are out of scale. Could it be that they look like that because your picture is taken from higher up?

If they are comfortable, I wouldn't replace them. Could you add casters and/or different legs?

I agree, who cares if your chairs "look" squatty in a photo. It has been my experience that often photos lack a certain perspective and the way things look in real life can appear and feel quite different. If you like the chairs and they are not causing you any problems using them, then I would focus on just finding the right table that looks good with them. A round table that you could put a tablecloth on (floor length) could be found super cheap and adjusted for height easily by sawing things off or adding stuff under, since it would all be covered by the tablecloth. You can even add a larger wooden circular top to an existing table if it is the right height.

I'll bring down the skirted table I have and set it up to see how it looks. The table cloth is pretty much the same color as the chairs - so it probably won't look so good.

The chairs already have casters on them - and I'm not sure if an inch or two will make much of a difference. And they are comfortable. I'd hate to relegate them to the land of misfit furniture - (our seldom used bonus room over the garage)

I like the high back chairs you posted. I have 37" H chairs in front of my window with 8' ceilings. My round table is 28". Could your chairs go into a bedroom someday? No hurry so as not to upset the Home Decor forum.

FWIW, I like the chairs that are there & the delicate look of the front legs. They have a delicate, slightly Victorian feel w/o being too stodgy & do look comfortable. I also like the color of the fabric swatch. Contrasting accent pillows would go a long way to break up all that the gold color - maybe round ones w/ or w/o a button?

I would consider keeping the table cloth as is - but definitely need accent pillows with a punch. (that's what that fabric is — but I'm undecided)
