Some of my Adenium Seedlings
Comments (12)Mike, I know what you mean about the small photo's and I am going to send them through next time in something a little larger. Also, noticed with my older camera that the photo's are a bit grainy when posted. Brian, I am watching and hoping to see some bids this summer. If only on one or two would suffice. Pagan, too many plants I think. I have kept a mix of varieties and sent of probably 150 seedlings to different people. Keeping the larger and unique for myself. There are a mix of obesum hybrids, Somalense x, crispum x, Arabicum, Thai Soco, swazicum x. I kept a fair number of plants of particular name, as I want to see their different characteristics and just how close they come in flower to their labeled parent. Comments (11)It wouldn't be damage from a centipede. Fungus gnat larvae are extremely small and not easily seen in the soil. Excessive watering often encourages an infestation and the roots end up looking just like the one pictured. The end of the root is gone as well as any small root hairs. What zone are you in? Unless it's maybe 10 a or b I can't imagine a need for daily watering, even with a well draining potting mix and wind. If you aren't in a very warm climate your seedlings should probably be inside, at least at night. I still think it looks like something is eating the root as it appears healthy. If there was rot the root would likely be soft and discolored....See MoreMy Seedlings: For the love of Adeniums
Comments (42)Martin, yes it is Coconut husk chunks. It seems when I find them, I never buy enough and when I go back to get more. They either do not have them or using a different supplier. The last few times I have purchased from a Pet store here (Petsmart). Big chain store. They sell them for reptile bedding. I would like to find a supplier with some that is all uniform in size. I tried fir bark for Orchids. I find that the bark is too hard to get it to absorb water once it dries back. Use it for my Hoya's. I am experimenting with a product in my mix that a friend grows his Orchids and Hoya's with. It is Diatomite. Comes from a auto parts store here called Floor Dry. He shares by it. Trying this product, as I have been using Turface and have not been overly happy with what I see when unpotting a tree. Not sure whether I had used too much Turface or too small of particles? We will see. Martin, so do LED lights require less hydro to operate? Might be a silly question. Rick...See Moregreenclaws UK, Zone 8a
