Adenium swazicum, or arabicum??

Hello everyone,

I bought this plant dormant off a bench labeled "A. obesum". I took it home and placed it under my lights where it soon leafed out. (Also keep in mind it's a graft.)

The leaves feel very velvety (luxurious).

A couple of weeks ago I noticed some buds forming.

Well, when I got up this morning, she had finally popped!!

Now, after seeing the flower and doing some further research, I'm leaning towards "A. swazicum". (Except maybe for the color.)

Here's a link to Mark Dimmitt's description - http://adenium.tucsoncactus.org/swazicum.html

" The best distinguishing character is the petals of solid color (no fading toward the throat), which is darker in color and lacks nectar guides. In addition, the anther appendages are very short and hidden within the tube, a trait it shares only with A. boehmianum. White flowers are known in cultivation. Literature says that wild plants may have red flowers, but they seem to be unknown in cultivation."

So there you have it. What do you think?

Rob
