Okay, they're not predicting rain for Beverly Hills, but it's very overcast, cold and damp. I wonder if they're going to shiver their way in, or if they're smart enough to have red carpet worthy gowns.

I turned it on. Eddie Redmayne's tux has spots! Jacquard. And David Oyelowo's suit is some kind of checked, like a race course tout from a century ago!

I'm watching a little, probably won't stick with the whole thing. Gorgeous gowns, mostly.

I've been watching. Viola's dress is stunning. I don't think it would look half as good on some other people, no matter how pretty. Viola can really pull it off.

I wonder about some of those extreme low cuts in front, like Jamie Alexander's and others. What happens when they sit down? I guess the designer has that contingency covered, but it would make me nervous.

Bree (Brie?) Larson . . . what is she in? I've never heard of her, but she made a nice impression on the Red Carpet--even without the dazzle of that gold dress. She was talking about her show (movie?), but it didn't sound familiar to me.

Jane Fonda looked offended at something Jonah Hill said that was bleeped out. Did anyone see her dress full length? I just saw the top (and that was enough for me). :-)

I never watch awards shows, but I love to check out the gowns on the Internet the following day.

Brie Larson is in "Room" - it's a disturbing story of a young woman who has been held captive in one room with a skylight for 5 years along with her young son. She manages to create a loving and nurturing environment and teach him that there is beauty in the world - which he thinks is in the totality of their one room.

I haven't seen it but there have been a lot of clips on TV - and she seems a remarkable young actress.

There's gown tape for those low cut dresses. Some have illusion, but Jamie Alexander's looked really open to skin. The tape is double stick and is mostly perspiration proof, up to light dancing, but not heavy sweat. There's also a kind of spray or roll-on body adhesive that can be used if you need more hold, but it's better with knits.

As for the very low cut dresses, and at risk of sounding like a prude, in my opinion the extremely revealing dresses distract from the beauty of the dress itself. People are wondering how does it stay up, how are the body parts kept in their places, why does her skin look so plastic?

I have some of that tape, pllog. Not for my low-cut dresses, but it can close gaps in the front of blouses, bra straps in place, etc. It's called Hollywood tape.

I didn't watch the show but saw some of the dresses online. Alisande, I saw that thing Jane Fonda was wearing. It was hideous! What was she thinking. And Kate Hudson's was awful too. Some of the dresses were beautiful but some were just weird or ugly.

Thanks, Maire. It sounds like the movie--or rather the novel on which it was based--was inspired by one of the kidnappings that got so much publicity a couple of years ago. I believe one of the women gave birth to a baby in captivity. I was impressed with Brie.

Not me, there's a "game" on......oh wait, there's always a "game" on hehehehe.

My favorite dress was worn by Jennifer Lopez. She was stunning. Kate Hudson was my least favorite look.
