Golden Globe Awards
Comments (12)So glad to see Sandra Bullock win...didn't think she would stand a chance against precious. Didn't see Precious. I hope it comes to a local theater before the Academy Awards, but thought Sandra did an amazing job in Blind Side....See MoreWatching the Golden Globes
Comments (10)I didn't watch the Golden Globes, but have been looking at the pictures of the gowns this morning. Lots of beautiful dresses. I was happy to see sleeves on many of them. Hopefully, that trend will come back for wedding dresses also. I know Drew Barrymore's dress was considered one of the worst, but it is sort of my favorite anyway. I love how feminine it looks with the flowers and the trailing back part of the dress. The cut makes it look sort of frumpy. I think it would have looked better if it had longer sleeves and had been fitted a bit around the middle to give her some shape....See MoreAnyone Watch Speechless?
Comments (16)I caught HBO's Divorce with Sarah Jessica Parker this evening. Once I caught on to the fact that it was supposed to be funny at times (Molly Shannon tipped me off), I kinda liked it. But not enough to commit to turning in on a weekly basis. Like Speechless... both are shows I might binge-watch someday during a snowstorm or when I'm down with the flu. But nothing more. Mimipadv, I have to have my kids show me how to use our Netflix because I caught a few episodes of Shameless a few months ago during a free access weekend on Showtime (we are not otherwise subscribers). I really enjoyed the episodes I watched--truly flawed characters but the storyline and the acting was so well-done. One of the episodes was with William Macy's character's mother--Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest--she was fabulous!...See MoreGolden Globes
Comments (19)My FIL, who is the oldest person I know up front and personal, is 91. He is completely together, with long term and short term memory pretty intact. He lives at home by himself, with services. And yet, he doesn’t want to venture too far out b/c his joints hurt, hard to breath, end stage COPD. He’s also extremely proud and doesn’t want the world to see him in his frailty. There is nothing in this world his family could do to get him in a tux and then talking to an audience w/extreme difficulty. Again, I cringed for KD, b/c thinking about my FIL, I couldn’t fathom that poor man was comfy, let alone happy to be there. It seemed to me that whole thing was for show. Yes, I cringed. on another subject, while I was excited that women were vocal w/dress and articulate speeches, but I truly felt bad for the many good men that were there and had to endure the b@ll busting fest. Women are magnificent creatures but if we have to bash the opposite sex to raise awareness, aren’t we losing a bit in the process? Is respect for fellow man or woman on a case by case, or award show by award show basis? some shows I hadn’t seen, so I’ve added them to my list....See Moresocks
