I just pulled it up on You Tube. I had seen the original. She's cute and has a lot of personality and an interesting voice. She has just enough innocence that you want to hug her.

Taylor Swift has gotten better, but she isn't a great singer either. She's also cute and was likeable until recently.

I had to pull it up on youtube. She does sing well but sounds exactly like another singer or style? I've heard. The phony English/Irish accent makes the imitative factor worse. I hate to see kids brainwashed like this (their unique talents, their values). Sad. Although amazing talent has to start somewhere. Hopefully she will find her own individual style and succeed if that's her dream in life.

I was listening to a Linda Rondstadt interview the other day. She was talking about how everyone should be singing and making their own art as a part of daily life. How they were always singing around their house and didn't realize everyone didn't do that. That you don't have to be good at it or become a star. So true.

I think she'll win it all.

She is basically a young version of Taylor swift. Even Simon said she wasn't as good last night. I thought she was OK but definitely not spectacular. I was not impressed by any of them. The only one I liked was a young guy who was very nice looking and sang extremely well. He was the best of what I saw last night. By the way she played a ukulele not a banjo

I also just went to search for a Youtube. It's a uke not a banjo. Interesting voice but I didn't like her all that much.

Oops! I know it was an ukulele, don't know why I wrote banjo. "Old Timer's" catching up with me, I guess. I found her act from last night on the AGT website, I could hear her a little better, but still can't understand the hype over her.

It will be interesting to see who the winners are tonight. I really liked several of them, but my favorite is still Sal whatever his last name is. He did better on his first audition than he did on the live show. I thought he came across as a little too cocky on the live show, too. He has a very outgoing type of personality, though.

But I do love that similar quality in her voice to Adele...it's quite popular these days and I could see her having a marketable sound. She has a lot of poise for a 12 year old and I liked her original songs.

I hear Adele too. Listening to some Taylor Swift, she sounds country so I don't get the connection other than maybe she looks a little like her. This is a popular way of singing. Adding the fake accent is a little different. She sounds so much like someone I heard, not sure who. It wasn't Adele. A lot of people have been singing like that for years.

She is talented and quite polished for a 12 year old. I hope she finds her own voice. Right now, it is very imitative.

When I saw her before she was good, even though I don't like Taylor Swift! I do not think she will be the winner though. Too many other good singers on there. Remember this is for a Vega show.

I think what people see in her is the maturity that she displays (has?!) in her songs. I'm not a huge fan, but I am impressed with the message she conveyed in her song last night, that I just watched on YouTube, for instance.

I think she is adorable and it's impressive that she is writing her own songs, but I don't think she's a great singer, and I don't think she will win. There are much better singers than her this year.

Grace VanderWaal gives me goosebumps; I adore her. I've listened to her performances over and over. Taylor Swift has never managed to capture my attention but this girl......wow. Robert likes her, too.

That she writes her own songs is very impressive. And she is cute as can be, very natural looking.

I'm not familiar with Adele's voice, not the type of music I prefer. Taylor Swift is okay, but I don't like her enough to buy any of her CD's. So I honestly can't compare Grace V's voice with either of them. I didn't notice any accent to speak of.

The magician kids are very good, too, I like them a lot. I'm not sure which of last night's contestants I like the best.

The semi-finals start next week.

A Vegas show is part of the 'grand prize', and kids have won it in the past. I have no idea how they work that part out. I also know that it's not unusual for contestants who don't win to get 'picked up' by sponsors for various shows.

I love her! Grace is so natural, new, she's a pure soul.

I like seeing people perform Karaoke or impressions of Frank Sinatra like Sal Valentinetti, but.....I don't value that in a singer/performer. I wouldn't want to see him perform a copy cat performance.

I like Taylor Swift's music videos. I don't think I'd like "her" as a person from what I've heard she wouldn't hang out with a no-talent ugly old lady like me. :0)

The talent is just outstanding this season. I think what they are looking for is a "Vegas " act I don't think the very young kids are Vegas material even thought they are GREAT! It will be a very hard pick this year. I can't even think about voting, too many are too good. That magic is unbelievable, do you think the judges are in on it? After all how can anyone put a card, the right card, in a egg & crack it? And the blue feathers it is just not possible unless they are in on the magic.

Part of the top prize is that the winner will have a headline show in Las Vegas. So, the act that wins has to be an act that (1) people would be willing to pay a decent amount of money to see, and (2) can keep an audience captivated for a minimum of 45-90 minutes.

Now, think about some of the acts we've seen. For example, the mother and son dance team. No way can they keep an audience entertained for 20 minutes, much less 90. Same can be said for Vello the contortionist. The only contortion he's done is to put his feet behind his head (and I'm the first to admit that there is no way in heck that I can even come close to doing that, so kudos to him), but walking around on his hands while in that position can only be watched for so long.

Some of the previous winners are still performing in Las Vegas, while others haven't been heard from since their two minutes of fame.

Lindsey....your soooooooooooo right! Five minutes is plenty for some of those acts!

I just checked, Jackie Evancho was a 2nd place winner and now has 5 albums. Winning isn't everything if your discovered....or get public exposure(As I recall she'd sung @ Carnegie Hall before her AGT debut).

I think that many people take "the story" of the performer into account when they vote. Grace has a good story and it's endearing (Not that I doubt the story at all). Yes, she is cute and has a great chance at a future in performing, but I do not think she is even close to worthy of winning.

I, too, absolutely adored Sal at the beginning, when he got the golden buzzer. Sadly, I have been disappointed in him since. I think he is going in the wrong direction and exaggerating too much on his "sexy" personality that attracted me the first time.

I absolutely do not understand why the wonderful singer in the glitzy suit was sent home while those two groups of men made it through. They are not my taste and I thought she was incredible.

I had to go to the AGT website to read Grace's 'story', as I didn't remember hearing or seeing it at all. Apparently she's quite the musical prodigy. But perhaps she would come across a little better when she gets a little older and her voice has a chance to develop more.

I always try to imagine myself in one of the judges' seats (yes, pompous, I know), and 'judge' by the quality of the performance, not by my personal likes or dislikes. That's harder to do then one would think! My personal tastes always win out! And that's why I wasn't bothered in the least by the 'glitzy suit' performer being sent home.

The background stories are influential, too, Although sometimes I think they dramatize and overplay the sob stories more than they should. But you can't help but admire someone who's pulled themselves up by their boot straps, and is doing their best to have a positive influence on life. They deserve the chance.

The talent on this show seems to get better every year! I'd be willing to bet a dollar to a hole in a donut that a number of the contestants will be discovered and move on to bigger and better things, regardless of how they finish up here.
