I used Downy for decades without any issues. Then a few years ago I learned about how waxy it is and more likely to cause problems with a washer, particularly if the user does not use the proper amount and do routine hot washes. I switched to Snuggle and was happy with the scent and felt like I was not going to ruin my machine. I currently do not use FS. My intention is to do as dadoes does when we invest in new towels-occasionally use Snuggle. It is a real shame that with all of the formulation changes in detergents and additives that you have to approach doing laundry as a scientist rather than as a homeowner.

While happy you like it, I find it as nauseatingly sweet and disgusting, as when they first changed it. I found a way to create the Original April Fresh, soft & powdery smell by using GAIN Sweet Sizzle scent booster pellets, but then P&G caught wind that a lot of Internet chatter was talking about how these Sweet Sizzle pellets smelled almost identical to the old & beloved April Fresh Downy. Now...GAIN pellets smell just like the current "April Fresh" Downy.....like chemical Sweet Tarts candy. I hate it. I've mentioned it before, and P&G will not answer me about the legal issues of the Original April Fresh 1000's of people are lamenting on the P&G website.....The Original Scent was created by a French Perfume house in the 1960's. I have a feeling P&G has lost rights to the formula or scent. I think they tried to get around it by making the GAIN Sweet Sizzle smell like the original Downy, but then they went and changed that too. I am very upset at P&G. I have about 9-10 months left of the GAIN pellets (I went to 5 Targets and bought about an entire cart full). When that is done with....April Fresh Original Downy will just live in my mind!! Bummer!!!

Yes, Tide Total Care (now renamed something with Color). Kind of awful in the bottle, but much better after washing and either machine or air drying! We ALL have hundreds of reasons to fear P&G and their scents!!! I smelled April Fresh Downy liquid yesterday at Target, and I cannot believe that it still smells like musty, old lady perfume. How, How could this be April Fresh? I mean, even the gross, sweet tart candy scent from a few years ago was better than today's version. It now smells NOTHING like April Fresh. Sad!!!

Remember when Angel perfume hit the market and suddenly everything with a smell turned sickly sweet? In the last 1-2 years, the trend is to smell like men's cologne. Candles, AXE and other body washes, even the scents they spray in retail stores have that patchouli/vanilla/oud like base (see Tide Ultra).
