How Is Your Weather This Weekend?
Comments (18)Most of the week-end was nasty--cold and overcast. I spent those sunny afternoons last week moving and stacking debris from having the barn re-sided, then we had a huge bonfire (a pile 10' x 20' x 4', and there's still more), on Friday night. Thank goodness, because Saturday afternoon we had a heavy rain, then a wind storm. Yesterday we had snowballs. I heard something hitting the windows and looked out to see tiny balls of snow--too dry to be sleet, and not hail, just little balls of snow crystals, about the size of those styrofoam balls that are used for bean bags. That lasted only a few minutes, but the cold is still here. We have sunshine this morning, but I'm ready for winter to be over, and it hasn't officially started....See MoreHow Is Your Weather?
Comments (32)Nearly perfect - at least to me - here in the PNW. Maybe mid 70's today and partly sunny. Agree that this summer has been wetter than normal - usually dry as a bone here from July through to mid October - but no significant rain for more than two weeks and I need to water today. I am seeing signs of fall in some early coloring of foliage but I can sense or feel it even more. There is a bit of crispness in the mornings and the light has changed, as Dawn notes. I love fall so that doesn't bother me at all :-)...See MoreHow is Your Weather?
Comments (34)I think it rained most of the night and was raining when I got up at 7. But now, hazy sunshine and things are becoming more dry. It's not quite 50F at almost 11 AM. I sleep soundly, but we have a downspout outside our bedroom that apparently 'gurgles' and can be heard through the open window....as DH has reported ;0) I'm hoping the rain settled the pollen down a little. As we age, DH and I both have become more sensitive to it. Any bit of irritated throat or taking out a Kleenex does certainly bring alarmed looks from anyone nearby. Not that we are supposed to have anyone nearby just now.......See MoreHow is Your Weather and Where Are You?
Comments (24)Far North Shore Chicago -- It's so dry in Northern Illinois that we'll soon be seeing fire alerts. My sinuses are ready for a hard frost to end the ragweed -- plus some rain to lay the dust from falling leaves. The giant lavender mums I bought in bud at Costco are in full bloom at the front door, yet I haven't disposed of the geraniums in pots on the rear terrace. Whatever we are saving on heat/air conditioning, we're spending on water....See More
