Tiling a "backsplash" on a non-working kitchen wall. Yay or nay?
Comments (20)Fori is extremely displeased, haha. I would gladly help you if I could, but I have so much to learn yet! I just need to get the BF to let me have a go at the wet saw. I think I would totally enjoy the whole tile cutting process - I have enough "artsy-craftsy" in me that it's kinda right up my alley. rebunky, I totally get it. I have SO many projects that are on my to-do list. *sigh* Never enough time. Yanno, it's funny, back when I started this whole update project (not a remodel - nothing so grand as what you all are doing!) I was taking trash out one night and a neighbor stopped by to chat. I told her I was painting my cabinets and she mentioned that she had been working on her kitchen for a year. And I remember thinking..."A year?!? What the heck? She's retired what is taking her so long??" HAHAHAHA!!! I was clueless. A noob. I am terrible at visualizing changes - I have to see pics of how it could look. And even then, I am terrible at making a decision. So I am very thankful for those here have more experience and a better "eye" that I do....See Morepebble shower tile - yay or nay?
Comments (10)I had a pebble floor in my last shower. It was nice looking and it gave you a little foot massage whenever you took a shower. The downside was definitely the cleaning of the floor. It was a pain! We sold the house a couple years ago. I'll never have one installed again....See MoreMosaic above stove? yay or nay?
Comments (11)I do think the look is outdated. I would be more concerned about marble behind the range and splattering things like tomato sauce that will etch it. Perhaps consider a stainless steel panel for the area behind the range going from the range up to meet the hood. If you want more interest there I have seen on this forum the stainless panel with a quilted design or squares imprinted on it or any number of patterns....See More24x24 kitchen floor tile?? Comments (14)Any large format tile requires a lot of prep to get your floor flat, and without deflection. It requires more costly setting materials and higher skills. It’s installation is about double in price to a standard 12x12 that no one is doing these days. Plus the required prep. Don’t hire the cheap $5 hack that never heard of the TCNA. https://www.ceramictilefoundation.org/homeowners-guide-to-hiring-qualified-tile-installer...See Morehandmethathammer
