Would u subway tile this shower?
Comments (16)Okay so this is what I have found out. Our floors are chiseled edge honed travertine. I can get travertine for the shower walls in the same color in either: 3 x 6 polished or 12 x 12 honed In the polished, I can get either a chair rail or pencil border in the same color So this means I can do a 3 x 6 polished matching travertine (except for the finish) with a pebble border that is trimmed above and below with a matching polished chair rail/pencil border (like in the photo in the above post). OR I can do the shower walls in the same color and finish travertine but in a 12 x 12 with no matching borders (unless I do the polished border with the honed wall tiles. What say yea now???...See MoreWould you subway tile this shower?
Comments (9)I did just find out is that I can get wall tile that matches the floor tile in a polished 3 x 6, or a filled and honed 12 x 12 (the floor is honed but not filled). Or I could get the 8 x 8 in the chiselled edge just like the floor that is not filled and then we'd have to grout fill the wormholes when installing. The reason I didn't consider these tiles before is that they don't come with all of the trim pieces. So it would be grueling for my DH to file off the edges and make all the specialty cuts to finish off the shower without any store bought trim pieces....See MoreWanna vote on shower tile?
Comments (15)Yay!! I vote for option #1 also. On other forums I was being steered away from white glossy subways because the floors are so earthy and the thinking is that the glossy wouldn't go. Others also think that maybe I'm confusing things by having vintage elements and then the stone floors (rustic/earthy) elements. BUt if I carry the white subways all around the room like in the above photo and use it in the shower . . . with the pebble border . . . I think it will come off as vintage with stone floors. That's what I'm hoping. The subways are MUCH cheaper and in stock and they come with all of the trim pieces so DH won't have to kill himself grinding down edges, mitering edges, etc. Thanks for those that participate(d). Comments (17)pmoskie, it does look more blue in that photo. maybe it's your monitor or the pic you have. here's another picture of it and it looks more blue than gray. have you ordered a sample? it's listed here: https://thezhush.com/five-perfect-powder-rooms/ they said they used Mineral. and heres the link they used to order it. https://www.decoratorsbest.com/products/schumacher-oiseaux-et-fleurs-mineral-wallpaper?sscid=61k5_u9a9k Here are some other photos w/it I suppose if you used a soft blue paint color, it would bring out more of the blue tones. Just like if you were to paint the wainscot in one of these gray tones, the paper would look more gray. (Personally I'd use that blue color on the walls. It's beautiful) or, try some of these colors Mineral, Porcelain and Cinnebar and Peridot are the colors it comes in do you have a sample of the paper? why don't you order one? i do like the marble tile you've chosen....See MoreHALLETT & Co.
