Yay or nay to Kohler Dune color for my kids' acrylic bathtub?
Comments (5)threeapples--You are definitely getting hit with alot of decisions all at the same time! The dune is pretty, but colors tend to go out of style. Are you ready to commit to that color tub for the next 5,10,15,20+ years? Let me ask you this...If you were buying a house instead of building one, would you be ok with a turquoise, rose, or yellow tub or would it be on list of things to replace? Would you buy a floor model tub in A-1 100% perfect condition from a plumbing showroom display in turquoise, rose or yellow today for this house? (I actually had that opportunity when I was making my selections--you'd be suprised what you can find in showrooms in small towns!) If your answer to either of these questions is no, then I say don't go with the dune--just stay with white. The white tiles + the white tub should give the bath a clean, simple, yet elegant feel. Or you could always use your tiles for that splash of color in the bath & go with something other than white. Just a thought--have you considered using "large subway tiles" or rectangular tiles set in a brick pattern in the kids' baths--bigger tiles means less grout for you to scrub. Just a thought......See MoreInduction range: yay or nay?
Comments (35)Just tried Paulo's suggestion for using the "temp" settings on my Max Burton and, by golly, using the 250F setting did hold my pressure cooker at 15 psi. (Actually, a tiny skoonch above the second ring, but otherwise steady for five minutes.) It seemed like maybe the 210F "temp" setting might hold the 7.5 psi pressure, but haven't had time to test it for any length of time. Anyhow, it seems that the MB's temp settings may give one the ability to make the equivalent of half step adjustments between the whole-numbered power settings. Thanks, Paulo. For clarabelled, I think the Electrolux you bought offers .2 power increments in the low end of the heating range (between "Lo" and "2.8"). On hoods, that 440 cfm hood will work. A general rule of thumb for electric stoves is the minimum hood draw you want will be 100 CFM for every linear foot of cooking surface. For a 30" stove like your Elux slide-in, the minimum would be 250 CFM and you are above that. Do have somebody check to be sure your won't need make-up air. Even a 440 CFM hood can backdraft a fireplace chimney or a gas water heater in a very tight house. (Don't be unduly alarmed, though. "Can" means it is possible, not that it necessarily will be happening.) This post was edited by JWVideo on Sun, Oct 13, 13 at 18:03...See Morepebble shower tile - yay or nay?
Comments (6)We have one in one of our bathrooms, it was a DIY gut job. Hubby did a pretty good job on the grout job, but it's not perfect. Some of the grout areas got wiped down too low, so water wants to pool in those spots. So, yeah, I have to spray bleach there often or it gets gross quickly. I don't plan on having that kind of floor in any other bathrooms because of that. But the pebbles are cut and smooth... keeping them clean isn't a problem and they feel great on the feet... it's just that you have to be really careful with the grout job part (more careful than we were) and cover up more of the pebble surface than you'd think so you don't get that problem. We did another shower floor with 1" stone squares and I love that one, the grout is small and nice and even, easy to keep clean....See MorePatterned floor tile-yay or nay?
Comments (34)A choice that enhances its beauty is keeping tub, tile above tub, vanity and shower curtain all nice whites. Then flooring becomes real focal point....See MoreRelated Professionals
