Comments (33)When they rough plumb, the toilet drain line is a 3" diameter (or 4" diameter) pipe. The center of it is 10, 12, or 14" from the finished edge of the back wall, usually (those are standard sizes). Where the toilet bolts down is also that measurement (10, 12 or 14" from the back wall) and informs you on what type of toilet to buy--a 10 in rough in toilet can sit back far enough to fit a 10 in rough in, but a 12" rough in toilet cannot fit into a 10 in rough in space. If your plumber has to set that toilet drain line at 14" from the back wall (because, say, there is a floor joist under where he'd otherwise put it), even if you chose a toilet that only sat 27" from the wall at a 10" rough in, you have to add 4 more inches to that projection (difference between 10 and 14) and now that toilet projects 31". So, what I am saying, is in case, it may not be JUST about how it will nicely draw out on the floor... but also where your joists under it lie, and where the plumber is capable of running the drainlines....See More1900ish Victorian - pretty bare bones!
Comments (44)Hi colorcrazy, thankfully, it's quite warm. We lost power a few weeks back for 14 hours, and the inside temperature dipped down to 7 celcius. When the power came back on, we were up to 15 celcius in less than two hours. All the walls have blown cellulose that was put in at some point. The kitchen is noticably the coldest room, probably because only one of it's three windows has a storm on it. I have some new pictures to share since I've last been around. Front window with it's fancy-ness: One of our upstairs originals: Our windows are double hung, but they do not have a weight and pulley system. They are simply held open by propping up the sash. The top sashes don't move right now because someone tacked in a block of wood preventing it. I'm not sure if that's how they were originally or not! I'm in the process of finishing up one of the spare bedrooms. The window you see above is in that room, and it is terribly, terribly rotten. I was vaccuuming out dead flies from between the window and the DIY permanent storm (insert eye roll here), and the vaccuum nozzle went right through the sill. Blech. All that's left to do in the room is the floor. And the window, but I'm ignoring it for now....See MoreRed samples for bathroom (pic heavy)
Comments (75)Southernfrenchie - Thank you! Very pretty space and those curtains look wonderful with that paint! I finally went to Lowes yesterday and grabbed paint cards of: LA Russet 6 LA Summer Pudding Waverly Tomato Red Waverly Cinnabar Eddie Bauer Crimson Glidden Terra Cotta Rose. I grabbed a few actual samples from comparing my BM paint cards and going by what I knew of the colors. Ha, when I got home I realized I grabbed such similar colors it's not even funny. Waverly Tomato Red looks like BM Burnt Peanut Red and similar to Raspberry Truffle. Glidden Terra Cotta Rose looks like the color name and is similar to BM Tucson Red. The color would work but it's not how I'm picturing the room. LA Russet 6 is a nice color. Similar to Currant Red. The other names above, the cards look very similar to ones I already have. I'm finally at my point of walking away for now. In the end I'll probably end up going with MR or CR. And just for giggles.. MR top, LA Russet 6 middle, CR bottom....See More97ish%: soapstone, white cabs, green subways
Comments (47)No, the door isn't 7 1/4" deep! The "case depth" (without doors) is 24", the depth with the doors is 28" and 31" is the depth with the deepest part of the handles included. My cabinets are the same depth as the case, so that just the doors stick out. The fact that the handles apparently stick out 3 more inches really isn't noticeable....See Moreazwildcats70
