Has anyone ever physically been to AJ Madison?
Comments (6)I was there a few weeks ago on a Sunday. They were busy and a nice woman walked around the showroom with me and pointed out several items I hadn't considered. I went hoping to see a Bluestar wall oven but they did not have one on display. I'd suggest if there's something in particular you're hoping to see, call first to find out if they have it on display. BTW, the nice saleswoman gave me a cold bottle of water after hearing me clear my throat several times. I greatly appreciated her thoughtfulness....See MoreWhat do you think of therapy? (kinda long)
Comments (26)What an unexpected pleasure to have your response, Mr. OJ! I've read so many of your posts and developed a great deal of respect and affection for you, so this is an additional honor. All of the replies have been just awesome... ((((OJ)))) Well, here's the true story about my remarriage. After the first one left, I began to pray and what I said to Him was, "Since my judgement is obviously so bad, IF I ever get married again, You'll have to send him to me because I will not (and didn't!) look for another husband again, and You'll have to make sure that I know he's 'The One' that You've sent for me, and here's a list of all the things that I want in a husband." And He sent Mr. Perfect. God's very own gift, picked out just for me. AND he's everything on the list, and then some... So truthfully, it wasn't courage on my part, it was just obedience. And when a friend of mine asked me (8 years after the first one left! I was 30 by then) if I wanted to meet her BIL, I knew (before I even laid an eyeball on him) he was 'The One' and we're still living happily ever after 17 years later - except for this mess in me. And my gyn said I needed counciling, but being cheap -er- thrifty, I went to my pastor and after some talking/prayer, which was good but not enough, he sent me/us to 2 other pastor/councilors over the next few years. Also some council/prayer with my pastor's wife, which has been the most fruitful. I have been on antidepressants on and off for years, mainly since my mom's death, but a few years ago I asked God to help me get off and stay off of them, and He has. I do think they cause dryness though. I really think the dryness/pain is about the issues that want to re-surface. But I dunno... I can't wait to see the Dr. and get to the bottom of all of this, I've searched and prayed for answers since I reached adulthood and have heard few and I believe this will be a pivot of sorts for me and my family - kids and grandsugars. So thanks again Mr. OJ, I hope I've answered everything, and when you think about it, will you pray for us? I know He is faithful to hear and answer us. With much respect, Nancy...See MoreWhat tests do you think are necessary for geriatric cat physical
Comments (7)I recommend the full panel at least once yearly for all cats greater than 12 years, including the T4 and UA, whether or not the cat needs general anesthesia. As Laurie mentioned, these tests screen out major diseases long before clinical signs show a problem, which is usually late in the disease and harder to manage. The full panel includes the other major liver enzyme (ALKP) which is more sensitive for liver damage that ALT. Having a BUN, creatinine, PCV, and total solids is not enough to differentiate between dehydration and renal disease should the BUN and creatinine be elevated. You need to know if the cat can concentrate urine in the face of dehydration- if not, then you have renal disease. Without a UA there is no way to tell. There is no screening for diabetes in that mini panel. Need a blood glucose and UA to check for glucose in the urine. The full panel includes electrolytes, which are very important for normal heart rhythm and can be out of balance in certain diseases. Of course all animals need a full physical exam before having GA to check for arrhythmias, heart murmurs, increased lung sounds, lymph node sizes (indicating infection or cancer), and other signs of disease. All cats >12 years need annual T4 screening. Period. There is absolutely no reason to make a cat of any age suffer with dental pain for the rest of its life, nor to risk kidney, liver, or heart infection from dental disease. Old age is not a disease, it simply makes one more likely to have certain diseases, which are manageable but only if you know they are present. I've anesthetized all sorts of old animals, some with multiple diseases, safely because 1) I knew what diseases were present and how to choose my anesthesia drugs to cause the least problems for those diseases 2) I monitor my patients very well 3) I adjust IV fluid levels as needed based on diseases present if any 4) when possible I optimize the patient's health prior to GA (not possible in emergencies of course). My recommendation is to have the full panel and if everything is OK, proceed with the dental. He may never need another dental, and you certainly don't want to wait for him to get a kidney, liver, or heart infection and THEN put him under GA. And I'd do the full panel once yearly to screen for these important problems that can be managed when caught early....See MoreDo you have any experience with vestibular therapy?
Comments (10)I went through therapy intended to help with vertigo and balance issues. Can't be sure it's the very same therapy that was suggested to your daughter. I went through therapy twice-first time, I think, it was in 2009. They concluded it was not helpful to me. Second try was done in several years. The diagnosis was affirmed by then, and it was not positional vertigo as was initially thought..and the problems weren't vestibular. The therapists were wonderful, and I'm sure they've helped many people. But I got worse, and never recovered. New symptoms appeared that plainly never went away. The exercises that were beneficial to others harmed me. Maybe because they had different conditions than me, even though some symptoms were the same. Vertigo or dizziness(which is similar but not same..and it's important to understand the difference) or presence of both can be signs of many many things, from side effects of a recent flu to neurological conditions that ultimately have nothing to do with vestibular apparatus. It works just fine while some other things don't. And it takes time to properly diagnose, and sometimes-a very, very good doctor. So, bottom line-it can be very helpful, it can do nothing, and it can-potentially- harm too. I guess it depends on what causes the vertigo. everybody starts with checking vestibular, and they are right-at the very least it needs to be ruled out, including Meniere. But it doesn't mean the problem always lies there. I would try to pursue it and see how it goes. The therapy didn't help me when the condition just started, that's true, but didn't harm me either. It took several more years into the disease to react to it like I did. And it does help to many, many people. But the reasons are important to figure out. As was mentioned already in previous posts. They can be very simple, and they can be anything but. In any cause, she should exercise extreme caution when driving. and of course abstain from it when having an episode. Did the doctor recommend Meclizine to help with the symptoms?...See More- 10 years ago
