Anyone?

I have 4 year old Bosch double ovens. I picked them because of features important to me. Im not home now so cannot verify exactly. Fast pre heat, maybe 4-7 minutes to 325, 350 with the touch of a finger. Will proof dough. Cranks up to 550. Double true convection ovens. Self clean. One glide out ball bearing rack-I should have bought a second for an additional $200. I am short too and it is easy to reach in when using the ball bearing easy slide rack. I love it but cannot compare it to the Elux. It's the 800. I'd like side opening doors but not sure at a cost of $1500. hth

I love Bosch products. Bought my appliances at Abt in Chicagoland where we live and they have superb service.

I am 4'11 and bake a lot. I was looking at the same two ovens, but after playing with some in the store it comes down to the racks and the door. The ball bearing racks slide out so easily and to the end of the door which makes it easy for me to check on or take out food. So I will keep the extra money from the side swing door and put it toward my hot tub. :)

I had a fridgedaire (ie economy version of electrolux) double self cleaning oven in my last house. Ran 10 years with zero service calls. Looked great. I had another fridgedaire ordered for my current house but they couldn't deliver in time so I switched to a Bosh Benchmark for $2000 extra. Doesn't really look any better than the fridgedaire other than the snob appeal of the bosh trademark. Doesn't work any better, or any worse. I've had one repair under warranty (took 3 weeks to get the part). Fortunately the oven was still functional in the interim. I think I like the side opening doors a little better, but not worth the extra cost.

Overall I think the Fridgedaire was a better Oven, based on cost, reliability, and parts availability.

One gripe with the Bosch. The buzzer is pretty feeble. Can't hear it if anything else is going on. that makes the oven timer pretty much worthless. I solved that problem with a "Big and Loud timer" from Thermoworks.com.

I have used a Frigidaire pro for a couple of weeks in a vacation rental and own an Electrolux wall oven. The Frig pro does bake pretty well but does not have all the options that the Electrolux has. This may or may not make a difference for the individual. but they are not the same. The fit and finish on this particular oven was severely lacking as it was too wide to hold the racks and they fall. It maybe that that particular oven had been stacked improperly at some point.

As much as I love my Electrolux, the blue enamel is a little worrisome as there have been a few more recent complaints again. I prefer the conventional doors in case I need an occasional quick landing place or to shield pets or kids that might dart in below and I am 5'3".

Cavimum, I would watch the enamel for crazing or chipping. I think this is how it starts out. Wipe it with a white paper towel and look for blue flakes.

Mine bakes pretty evenly and the fan shuts off as soon as you turn it off. Not very much hot air is blown into the room. either They improved the cooling I think which has led to the fan running longer and more hot air into the kitchen.

The newer models in the last year have dual convection fans and the racks are enameled so they can stay in for self clean. It would seem that the racks would be prone to flexing and maybe the enamel popping off though.

I'm curious to know which oven you ended up with. I just recently installed a Bosch 800 Series Benchmark 30" single wall oven that I'm not super happy about. I am 5'2" and splurged for a right swing door. The problems I have with it are that I blows warm air that whe. I'm standing at my island only a couple feet away I can feel a breeze and see my hair blowing. The other thing is the darn fan is super loud. It's such a relief when it finally stops...ahhh, the quiet. I'm pretty frustrated and am considering returning it for either an Electrolux of JennAir. Does anyone know if these ovens are quieter??
