I don't know if you're being too picky, I mean if you have a vision and know what you want, sometimes that's half the battle, however on the flip side, being so rigid with your ideas can often limit your choices so much that you end up missing out on things that you might have liked even better than your original plan.

Also, gray is a neutral and can easily be used as a back drop to any other colors you introduce to the room so it's not going to hurt the room at all to have a little gray in it. Additionally, since you already have gray in other rooms it can help keep the flow from room to room from looking disjointed and tie all your spaces together.

If you really love the first print then you should use it and not let some silly rule get in your way! I hate rules like that, when it comes to decor, they are waaaay too confining.

I forgot to add that on my monitor the picture of the print you love doesn't have any gold; the color that isn't blue on my screen is a dark or muddy gray.

Did you look at Kravet, Schumacher, Stark, Donghia, Cowtan & Tout, Holly Hunt, Thomas Lavin, Brunschwig & Fils, Kneedler/Faucher ... if you don't find something you love from one of these companies ... then maybe you are being too picky! ;-)

I don't get why you can't have any gold in the wallpaper just because your house has silver tones in it. Your wallpaper does not have to match your hardware.

Gold as a description of a shade of yellow is very different to me than a metallic gold. I would get a sample of the one that does not list metallic gold

I agree with the previous 3 posters--the hex pattern nosoccermom posted is shown with a table with gray metal legs and a chair with chrome legs. And it works, gold or no gold.

I'd treat it as yellow with grey.

I'm not seeing gold in any samples you posted...beige, but not gold. Big difference. Also, there is nothing wrong with beige and silver or gray. In fact some very lovely rooms I've seen make use of that color combo. Be that as it may, if you don't want beige, then don't get beige.
