It Has Been Awhile

Sweet Betsy asked how things were with me so I will try and catch you up.

Since Neil died a couple of years ago, I have been trying to adjust to that loss and it has been hard. I stopped calling friends, going out and just living . Two weeks after his death, Katrina ( my daughter )became wheelchair bound and I went straight into being a caregiver again. I am pretty much home bound with the exception of doctors appointments, grocery store and pharmacy.

I have started going out to lunch with friends again and as soon as I can arrange for someone to stay with Katrina some, I hope to be able to go to the beach with my friends.

I miss the GP and all the fun discussions we had, the cyber vacations where we rented beautiful big houses and hired personal chefs and cabana boys to bring us exotic drinks.

Things change and people change. Our world is changing faster than we can keep up.

Life goes on.

janis, it is just great to hear from you again. I think you mentioned Katrina becoming confined to wheelchair back when it happened, but for some reason I thought it might have been temporary. So sorry to hear that it wasn't.

How is Sassi doing? Is she still having eye problems?

Yes, life goes on and certainly at a faster rate than we want or can keep up with. Hopefully you will be able to spend some time with your friends both on the beach this year and just to get together and enjoy other adult company. Of course we expect you to spend some time here with us. You could always paint such a pretty picture, especially about your flowers and yard, with words.

Thanks for the update. I have missed your fun posts and hope that you will be able to stop in again as often as possible. I am sorry that you are basically homebound. I know how that is. When I retired two years ago, it wasn't long before my husband was diagnosed with cancer; therefore, my retirement has amounted to visits with the doctor and the hospital. You are in our thoughts. Do stop in when you can.

Curiosity got the best of me this morning so I climbed up onto the scale. 159.5 lbs! Yippee! It does work. That is a 4 lb loss from what I weighed on Friday or Saturday last week. Unfortunately, I did not write it down. I remember 163.5, but I can't remember which day it was. I am just happy to be under 160. I sure did learn a lot this past week. Especially about eating the right portions. I don't have that stuffed feeling after I eat dinner that I use to have either. Tonight we went to TGI Friday's. I planned out what I would have before we left the house and I stuck to it. I especially used to overeat at restaurants because they give you such large portions. Well, I really noticed that when I finished eating what I wanted, that I didn't feel so full. It is a good thing. Interestingly, I feel somewhat lighter, but not skinnier. Well, while it is amazing that I lost those 4 lbs, I'm not overly impressed by it. I mean, I am glad that I lost it and it was a really great start. I certainly don't expect to lose this weight too fast. I just mean that I can see my weight fluctuating 4 or 5 lbs for no reason at all. What I am really looking forward to seeing is 10 lbs come off. Not at once, but a total of 10 lbs. Then it will seem real to me. I just think that if I could lose 4 lbs in one week, I could just as easily gain 4 lbs in one week. I'm skeptical of my ability to stick with it, I guess. Or maybe I just have a teensy bit of doubt that it is really due to the changes I made.

Yeah, the b/f was a real piece of work lol. It is over with though, very short lived thank goodness lol. Trying to keep up here. I can't believe October is almost over! Ack! We had my 7 year olds birthday last saturday and now this saturday is halloween. Holy cow it never ends!

Janis, thanks for your update. I am in a somewhat similar situation with my husband and understand that you can become a bit isolated. The Garden Party is my contact to other grown-ups. So please drop in when you can.

Hi Janis. Glad you stopped by and I hope you'll visit more often. It looks like you have gone through a real bad patch lately, but I'm glad things are looking up since you are looking forward to going out with your friends.As you say "Life goes on".

There were grand notions and interesting threads. Just catching up with each other would be satisfying. Each has their own corner of the world and it is nice to share those bits. Thanks for posting.
