good deal..ya i have a plastic bowl/cup thing over it right now...mainly was using it cause i heard they do better in humid type weather...right now its about 4"tall and has 6 or 7 small skinny leaves...crazy looking plant its looks kinda purple or dark green

Since you don't know exactly what climber you have there, it is hard to say how it will respond to your loving care - it may be a variety that is not cane hardy in zone 5 and so is struggling to be its best. OTOH, it may just need some TLC and you can help it succeed. Kate is right. Just prune out any dead or winter damaged canes - but not too early in spring. Wait until the forsythia blooms in your area; that's usually a good marker for when to get going on your rose pruning. Keep it watered and give it some fertilizer and or compost and see how it does this year. Good luck! BTW, if you're in Marshall, you really ought to plan an outing one day this June and head east on 94 to Belleville to see the Great Lakes Roses display gardens when they're in full bloom. GLR nursery is closing at the end of this season (the Lindsey's are retiring,) but they are still offering wonderful large potted roses for sale this year. Even if you don't go there to purchase, you can see some very mature and beautiful hardy shrubs and climbers all in one spot and they can answer questions on roses with great expertise. I heartily recommend that you make the effort to get there sometime before they close this coming fall! :-) Anne

Your impatience with digging it up prematurely probably has ruined your first seedling(but leave it in and see if it comes up). The mango seed will send out a tap root headed down first and then it sends up the sprout that breaks the surface. Here in Florida the quickest I've seen the sprout break surface is 8 days, but I've had others take a whole month. Best way is to plant the dang thing, leave it alone and let nature do her work. Make sure you open the hard shell carefully (like opening a clam) then plant the seed flat in good potting soil like Miracle Grow Potting Soil in a one gallon container to start. Keep the soil damp, not wet. In the Fl. hot weather here they usually sprout within 2 to 3 weeks.

Many mango seeds are multi-embryonic, meaning they can produce several plants. If this happens you can just leave them where they are for awhile and see how many you get. We used to leave them grow to about 3-4''[7 to 10cms] and then if you have more than one, you will need to divide them. It's pretty easy. Just remove the outer husk from the outside gently [wash off the soil first]and separate all the little babies. Pot them along until approx 1m high and then snip the middle out, so you can reach the fruit when they grow up.You can get fruit in 3-4 years, if you really water well and feed them.Good luck, Cheers.
