Yesterday I had to do some returns so I thought I might as well knock out some Christmas shopping. I bought a Bass flannel shirt that was $50.00, marked down and then again with an extra $10.00 off, so total was $20. I don't think this shirt will be cheaper, maybe at the end of the season when I no longer have to buy it.

I just heard this morning on the news that WalMart will offer their Black Friday items on Thanksgiving online... I shop a LOT on walmart.cam and will be doing my biggest show on Friday in San Luis Obispo. Looking for a few things...

No. I don't like the crowds and I think equally good deals are available online. But I'm with Ellendi, if I'm in a store anyway and see a good deal I'll grab it.

I never have, and I never will..... I really haven't needed anything that badly, even at bargain prices, to endure the crowds and chaos. And I'm the "queen" of CHEAP. I have all my Christmas gifts/shopping complete - all crowd-free ;-).

I will definitely not be in a bricks and mortar store of any kind on Friday--unless it's the grocery store. I might do some online shopping that weekend. Depends on whether we have figured out what we are getting the kids for Christmas.

No, no shopping for me. I don't need anything, and as a family we are gifting less and less. Most of us buy what we need when we need it.

No. I'm trying to remember if I *ever* did this kind of thing. I don't think so. We're fortunate to have pretty much everything we need -- except a new printer, and I suspect any 'deals' will be on fancy ones, not the plain jane we need.

Maybe.....depends. :0) I'm still using tube type TV's. The antenna reception is on and off compared to my flat screen. Soooooooo......I could use a little 24" one of those. A built-in microwave, washer & dryer, dusk to dawn outdoor lights, solar yard lights...etc. for the house remodel...but I usually buy almost new on Ebay/CL/Restore ....

Absolutely not. No chance. Several years ago I was visiting my brother for Thanksgiving, and since he lives about 30 miles from an Ikea, and we were starting the process of redoing our kitchen, it seemed like a good plan to go to that Ikea the next day as we were heading home.

The 30 mile drive took over an hour, plus at least 20 minutes getting into the shopping center's parking lot and finding a place to park. Inside the store was a madhouse. We were able to determine that we didn't like the look any of the styles of cabinets they had on display, and found two small items the would be useful for the new kitchen. However those two items were out of stock. Yay.

It was another 10 minutes to get from the parking lot to the highway, and the highway is literally right next to the store.

No, there isn't anything that I want badly enough to fight those crowds!

No. I shop sales all year long and find bargains usually better than the Black Friday offers, plus I don't like crowds.

No. I haven't been to a "maul" in 20 years and there is nothing I shop for anyway, at any of the other places except necessities or food.

My mom, two sisters and I would go Black Friday shopping when our kids were little ones. We had years of one or a couple of us being pregnant, nursing, etc. It was our "girl" time as much as buying for our kiddos.

Mom's gone, our kids are grown so we really don't do it anymore. It was fun though when we did. We would leave at 6 am. All the dad's stayed home with all the kids, at least 10. They were all at my parent's house with my Dad. What a nut house that was.

One year we didn't get home til 1 am, none of us could move, hahaha. Oh, great memories. It makes me miss my mom so very much. She was truly a wonderful, loving person. All our kids adored her.

But to answer your question, most of my shopping will be online.

My mother and I used to shop on December 26 back when the sales were on that day. It was so much fun, we shopped until we dropped, came home and spread our bargains on the living room floor to enjoy our success. That's a happy memory, stores and parking didn't seem so miserable then. I would not think of going on BF now. Too crazy.

No. I hate shopping anyway, and the crowd torture isn't an improvement. Besides, the sales items advertised don't always exist. Many years ago I got up early to be among the first customers at the local K-Mart, so I could purchase an advertised camera for my son. Well, they didn't even carry that camera, and had no substitute deal at the store. The ad items were bogus, and I decline the offer to repeat being duped.

I have braved the crazies a few times but not in the last several years. I get just as good deals online & never pay for shipping. I do however take one trip in December with my Mom to the Kittery & Freeport outlets & LL BEAN, we really enjoy this time together, we take the sleigh ride thru town that LL BEAN sponsors and then have cocoa by the fire pit downtown. The entire village is strung with lights and there is holiday music playing every where. Last year, we a had a light snow falling at dusk when we boarded the sleigh ride, it was magical. I think the biggest reason I enjoy this one trip so much is because most of my shopping is done by then & I am under no pressure to search for /buy anything.

No no no Lord no. I avoid crowds. I do most of my shopping online. There's already stores offering black Friday prices, just have to look. There's great prices on the kindle 7 fire, I read yesterday in the $30's. I saw a chromebook for $99. I check the daily bargain sites like one sale a day, woot, Bens bargains, brads, etc. They have them all together.

I stay as far away from stores as possible on that day. :-)

I'll check online for any interesting Black Friday specials, but I agree with those above who pointed out deals exist all year. In fact, I'm so tired of the word deal. It appears in my Inbox ad nauseum.

I stay home on Cyber Monday too, but not just for the online shopping opportunities. Mostly I don't want to be on the road while the woods are swarming with hunters on the first day of deer season.

"Black Friday" makes me giggle. My best friend was a department store manager back when that was a snarky thing said by the clerks. The convergence of every work holiday has to have a sale to get them in the doors, with the traditional start of Christmas shopping season, made working on Thanksgiving Friday a nightmare of big crowds, mislabeled one day prices, demanding customers on a mission to score in a hurry to get to the next store, plus pushing and shoving and general lack of nice. Now we have stores promoting Black Friday, and even more, removing all meaning with "Spring Black Friday" and "All Month Long Black Friday" and "Black Friday Any Day Deals". Those 100 only doors open at 6:00 a.m. things are just to get you out of your warm bed and everyone home for the holidays comfort, and in to buy something, anything, since you got up so early for it.

I don't play.

I get the kind of bonding outings that Katlan and Socks describe. That sounds really nice. Especially if it's not in close crowds and there's room to walk.

Our Thanksgiving Friday tradition is to stay home, do jigsaw puzzles, talk, maybe half watch a football game. Perhaps barbecue if the weather is nice. Just generally enjoy an unspoken for day off. :)

I always have company for the holiday weekend. Never have shopped Black Friday and don't miss it.

Just heard an ad for "Black November" !

I am planning to go to Minneapolis for Black Friday weekend together with a bus group. I went last year and the crowds weren't as unbearable as I thought they would be. But since the Canadian dollar is valued so much lower than the U.S. $, I will likely be doing more looking than actual buying. I look at it as a mini-vacation.

I'd rather stab my eye with a fork than go shopping on Black Friday. The aggravation could never be worth the savings, to me. One of my friends has been pestering me to go to some outlet mall. I was kind of surprised that she was willing to brave the traffic and crowds. Every year, it seems, someone in Texas gets killed at WalMart on BF.

I never have found the crowds to be that bad where we are. I don't go and just look for a lot of stuff, rather I have a couple of things in mind and sometimes those sales even go beyond Friday so you can still get the great prices on things.

I may shop on Friday early but I won't shop on Thanksgiving evening. I have found some great deals when I get to the stores at about 9 or 10 a.m. and very few crowds then. The crowds around here are usually home by then. I don't get deals on electronics. These are always sold out when I get there. I do get great deals on clothing. Last year the clerks commented that the customers at that time of the day are so much more polite and it makes the day go better for them. I don't envy their jobs when the crowds are nuts. It must be very difficult for anyone working those days.
