Pidge, we saw the original some years ago, and enjoyed it. I see the film called Mostly Martha but I thought the title was Bella Marta when it was released in the US. Or maybe that was the European title. At any rate, I recommend the original.

I second Lord of the Rings! Bilbo's house is homey and charming, and I was thrilled to find that people actually construct hobbit houses. I keep telling my DH that we need to build one for ourselves. (When I first read the trilogy, I admired everything elvish, including the soaring palaces. At a significantly older age, I have become a hobbit, sans the hairy feet.) What a fun thread this is, luring a long-time lurker out!

We saw "Chef" a number of months ago, and watched it again last weekend. We liked it even more the second time around. In the early 2000's there was a PBS series about living off the land. 3 families travelled by wagon train to Montana where they were to live for 5 months, living exactly like the 1800's. It was remarkably done, and I just loved it. One family was very well-to-do from Malibu, another family from Tennessee and a father and son from Boston. I searched this afternoon and found it. The series is on YouTube. We're going to watch it all over again.
