Need help choosing plants in JG style
Comments (2)I like the look of carefully pruned green shrubbery in Japanese Gardens- trimmed to look like floating clouds. There are better shrubs for this than others. Dense growing and better yet evergreen shrubs are ideal. In your zone you still have the possibilities of both but they can be a little limited (and I feel this pain, I live a zone colder!). Try adding some boxwoods like Sprinter for an easy shrub that seems to love pruning. A few would work well in both areas you have photos shown for. You could also go the even simpler route and use a beautiful, lighter colored rock mulch and have it raked smooth around your well placed stones, with some shrubs or a larger prostrate shrub here and there. Here is a link that might be useful: Sprinter Boxwood...See MoreNeed Help On Choosing Couch Color
Comments (3)I have a couch that is the S.06 color with neutral walls and gold accents in my home and I love it! The contrast is really nice because the furniture can stand on its own and not blend so much into the palette. I have also added some deep indigo velvet curtains and some pillows on the couch to match, throwing in some cream and grey dec pillows, too, to bring it all together....See MoreNeed help choosing sofa fabric in a new addition!
Comments (8)BeverlyFLADeziner Thank you!!! The inspiration rooms you posted are great! I like them better than mine. The last picture is my favorite. I like the 4th one too. I love, love the Atlanta Home creamy room, with the slip covers. But I don't know if cream walls will work with the kitchen. Because of the way the family room ties into the kitchen, and the ceiling beam. See the 2 bottom pictures of our space. Do you just end the cream at the corner? Also, I'm not sure where to find a durable comfortable slip covered sectional. Ugg. My floor plan is below. I may just have one chair, the one near the window, because it seems tight. The sectionals I'm looking at will just fit. But my end tables can't be wider than 18 inches, because of breakfast bar chairs. I chose this sectional layout because I'm not sure I want to block the picture window, and because we like to put our feet up. What do you think of the layout? The room's main function is TV, but it is the only living room. We also like the rooms I included below; just to show you our style. I need to narrow down to one inspiration room, I know....See MoreI need help choosing a sofa color.
Comments (4)My 2 cents: Sofas are not something you buy often so I would go neutral and add throw pillows for color. Make sure to get stain protection so your sofa fabric lasts longer. If you want a statement piece with a bold color, do that with an armchair or ottoman. That said, is West Elm your only option? The quality of their construction, in general, is not the highest compared to Crate and Barrel, for example. Because a good sofa is such a long-term investment, I would recommend paying for good quality construction. Good luck!...See MoreKippy
