Comments (29)A floppy. What's a floppy? I never bothered with floppy disks, as they have always been too unstable. Went from Zips to CD's. With CD's just costing pennies, there is no point in using anything else. Since my mom is basically starting out fresh, I was just going to find a computer with USB and ethernet ports. Do you know that the wire they now use to wire your house and phone jacks is the same cable as ethernet cat5 wire? That just tells me go with ethernet as much as possible. You can buy serial/parallel to USB or ethernet adapters. Hey Ki, if your printer is relatively new it should have both serial and ethernet or USB ports. Mine does anyway and it's at least 2 years old. Dottie, have you tried updating your drivers? It's insane you've had to replace everything. Laura...See MoreFriend or weed?

Comments (13)Pudge, this is way too funny. I guess the most important question is, tho, - How'd they do at the casino? Did they win $10.00? That would have made their day. Bless both of my mothers' souls - my mom has been gone for 11 years and my MIL for four. I miss them both dreadfully. But they both decided that to really get me, they had to pass away on the same day of the year. I guess they figured that's the only way I would remember the date. LOL! I always knew that they were conspiring together to get me somehow. But, reading your escapades of the other day, Pudge, I could just imagine the two of them or my mother with one of her seven Victorian sisters. I think I would have been ripping my hair out by the end of that one. I am giggling so hard as I write this. I keep looking in the mirror and catching my mom looking back at me. That's what drives me crazy. Or when I talk (yell, scream, nag, whatever) to my kids with the same voice that I heard when I was a teenager. Yeesh. I hate myself when I do that. I already have days when I think it would be nice to just be able to be in the big garden in the sky. Just like the bubble or those cream cheese commercials. When my dad was departing, he used to drift into unconsciousness for brief times. He came out of one such spell and started telling me about the wonderful greenhouse that they had waiting for him - "It's so lush and green - just like a jungle. And you don't have to be afraid. It smells so nice and fresh, like damp earth." I think of that all the time and now I have days that I can hardly wait to get there. : ) Shauna...See MoreCan I be any more forgetful?
Comments (57)Got news for ya, folks ... (bad news, I fear) ... it gets worse. Some time ago, at the coffee shop after the monthly investment group meeting, I'd said that I was worried as to whether I was skating on the edge of the Alzheimers rink ... ... and a guy sitting across from me, with whom I've had a bit more than the usual connection, and who's had quite a lot to do with Alzheimers in his family, looked at me and said, "Ed - you don't have to worry about Alzheimers!". Which warmed my spirit ... until I though that his (diagnosis) ... mjght be somewhat of a temporary reprieve. ole joyfuelled (so far)...See MorenanadollZ7 SWIdaho
