My tiny version of Oprah's Favorite Things
Comments (7)I have a foursome of girlfriends that meets every month or two for dinner, and last year we started a new holiday tradition (can we call it a tradition if it's happened only once?) where we each give the other 3 the same gift -- something we've found over the course of the year that we've loved for ourselves, or just a good idea, or whatever. The price limit is low -- I think we said under $20 or $15. So it was a bit challenging! (For anyone who's interested, here's what was exchanged: a keychain w/ tiny flashlight attached; a book on meditation; personalized notepads; and a fancy bottle of olive oil.) How about wrapping it in a dishtowel? Put everything in the center of the towel and gather up the ends, like a little satchel, and tie it with raffia or ribbon....See MoreA Few of Our Favorite Things
Comments (19)angelaid--sure wish I had a Roomba. Several people here--I think flamey is one--have them and really like them. If I were giving my favorite things, I'd give: Microplane grater--grates lemon or orange zest in no time and no big mess either. Books (now that's very Oprah-ish). I'd like everyone on my list to read all the good books I've read. Top of the list would be "Lord of the Flies". My fav. KitchenAid Mixer--well now, can you tell I've been in the kitchen a lot lately? Oil of Olay regenerist micro-exfoliating wet cleansing cloths. Love them. Can't think of anything else but if I was Oprah, I'd probably have many more things that I could afford to love....See MoreThese are a few of my favorite things....
Comments (14)Sleeping with a couple of my cats. Finding a really good yard sale with lots of cheap, neat stuff. Waterlilies. Antique roses. Watching my old horses gallop across the pasture like they were still colts. Watching the raccoons eat. Talking to the possums. Extra, extra, extra rare steak. Boylan's Grape Soda and Virgils Black Cherry Cream Soda. Minute Maid Pomegranite Lemonade. Simply Lemonade Simply Orange juice with lots of pulp. Mely's (favorite Mexican restaurant) green sauce and pork tamales. La Casona's (another favorite Mexican restaurant)red salsa. Windows open and a summer breeze. Fans whirling. Looking outside and not seeing another living soul. Chicken and dumplings like my mother used to make. Day trips with Jody. Lunch with my daughter. Flea market with friends. Maple fudge. Buttermilk pie. Talk radio, especially Walton and Johnson, who I start listening to at 5 a.m. every morning...well, Monday thru Friday. Just to name a few.......See MoreTop 10 Favorite Daylilies of 2015
Comments (21)Debra - you do amazingly well. Focus stacking involves putting your camera on a tripod, then taking a series of photos with the focus on the front to the back of the field of daylilies (or birds). Using software, you can do layers to get a full focus across the entire field of view (or just the area you want in focus). This is tedious and really only practical with digital cameras but man it does make a normal lens photo look a lot like yours with the telephoto!...See MoreFun2BHere
