I've owned old homes and have felt their limitations! OK, new tile (though I like the look of what you have now) so limitiation on switch/receptical placement is not an issue. Normal height for switches is 45" to 48" above the floor. Yes, medicine cabinets tend to get filled. Now is your chance to enlarge your space. In my opinion, your medicine cabinet looks dated when compared to the fixtures. Here's a thought, open up the wall and recess a more spacious cabinet (can be wood with wood or glass shelving) with doors on either side of the basin. Projecting into the room maybe 4-6" you would have additional storage (possibly for some extra towels) and a place for electricity. It would appear that you have approximately 2 feet to the right and 3 feet to the left. Remove the existing medicine cabinet and replace with a hanging mirror, installing a convenience outlet below. I believe this would modernize and improve functionality of a small bath. Can you double-hang towels on the wall behind the door - face cloths/hand towels atop side-by-side bath towels, then a robe hook on the back of the door itself? Here's one more thought. I know you like the look of your basin and its' coordination with the water closet. Are you aware that the pedistal is a separate piece from the basin? You could install the basin into a counter-top with a cabinet below. As people are taller now, many are being installed up to 36" high (vs. the old 30" standard). A cabinet below would provide you wilh significant additional storage and a place for electricity. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Are you keeping the tile at the same height? Are you replacing anything else (sink, medicine cabinet)? Is that I toilet tank I see to the left? You need to think about how you use the space. Personally, I would put the light switch up above the tile - where I think it is now? Depends on how tall you are and where you want to reach to when you walk in the door. Or put it on a motion detector. The lower one in the corner - is that an outlet? I can't see that would be used much. Definitely move the other one from behind the towel bar. Now, as far as where to put the new outlets, depends on what you use them for. If your sink has a built-in ledge to right (lower than rim of sink - or is that something funky with the picture?) that you use, you could just move that outlet over a few inches (line up with your new tile) so it's not behind a towel, but higher than the edge of the sink. If you're replacing the medicine cabinet and would be charging an electric toothbrush or razor in there, move it into the cabinet. It doesn't look like you have *any* counterspace, so don't know how you intend to use the space. If you use a hairdryer, place the outlet higher - but I still don't like it above the tile, put it just below the bullnose.

Thank you, This is the 3rd set of Maestro dimmers I have hooked up. All the other ones have worked fine up until now. I think the dimmer itself must be faulty. After looking at that wiring diagram above and looking at the wiring diagram that came with the dimmers, I think that it's fairly close to being the same. In fact, looking at my notes, I tried the wiring plan from the Maestro instructions. I think I may have a defective unit. I am going to get a replacement today to see if that fixes the problem. The bottom line is that the wiring diagram above is incorrect. If the black and white wires are switched so that the white wires go to the brass screws and the black wires go to the black screws, this will represent how I originally wired it. That seems to be in-line with both the wiring manual I have and the Maestro instructions. However, it didn't work the first time.
