Help with Selecting Bath Faucet and Shower Head

I need some opinions on selecting bath / tub faucets. This is for the kids bath upstairs.

The bath vanity is 36" wide and will have a white rectangular sink set in the countertop. Below are pictures of the style of cabinets as well as a sample of the countertop / floor tile. The hardware on the cabinets are straight brushed nickel bars. The towel rack and toilet paper holder are also straight bars.

I will be using brushed nickel fixtures in this bath. Below are the faucets that I am considering. The second picture has the matching shower set with it.

IMO, the first faucet is too "square." Since the vanity and sink have hard angles and straight lines to them, I just think that this faucet may be too much. However, the wife seems to like this one.

The second one seems like a better fit to me. I think that the curves will break up the hard angles of the cabinets and sink. Also, the handles on the valves will match the straight bars of the cabinet hardware. In addition, I think that this will look good with curved shower curtain rod. However, I am not sure if the shower head and filler will look okay in a regular fiberglass shower / tub.

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions. Also, if you have any other suggestions for a faucet and shower, I would love to hear them.

The first one seems way too modern for your cabs (but I love it!). As far as the second one, we put a very similar faucet in our master bath and I love that look (ours is by Danze). I wanted the curves also, to contrast with the angles in the room.

I think the shower components are fine with the second faucet. Check out Danze faucets and shower heads if you like that look for other options. I purchased all of my plumbing from faucetdirect.com. LOVE that website!

Thanks Patricia. I do have both - I have the slider bar with the adjustable hand held thing and then the Rain CAn thing. I NEVER shower - always bathe - and this is for my husband not really me so I want him to enjoy it - do you think using the rain shower is ok and then if you need more force or a massage, etc. you can use the handheld thing? would you recommend it this way? I cannot see my husband taking the time to remove the adjustable thing and use it. So I am relying on the shower head for him getting clean, etc. WIll the rain shower do a good job of getting him clean in a jiffy?

I went with Hansgrohe for my kids bathroom. I love the quality of their product and if you shop around you can get it at great prices. When you shop around, pick up the items, compare how they feel in your hand, how they are built. Hansgrohe customer service is top notch. I called them and they set me up with a mix of items after listening to my wants. I have a Croma E 'green' Shower head and handheld shower on a bar with an E tub spout and a swing C faucet for the vanity. The person I dealt with on the phone last year when I ordered, walked me through every single item that I needed to place my order online. We have a huge Kohler showroom here, but pricey and nothing really struck me.

It sounds like you want to have a custom shower system with both a hand shower and a showerhead. This is very do-able. Typically I would recommend you stick with the same brand, mainly because then you know the finish will match perfectly. Especially with finishes in the oil rubbed bronze category, you will find great differences between various manufacturers and it might look strange if the finish is not exactly the same. In the case of chrome finish, you may find there is almost no difference between companies. In that case there is no reason you couldn't have a hand shower made by one company, and a showerhead made by the other. You still need to do some other planning as to how your shower system will be configured. Perhaps this article we wrote about the topic will be of help. Thank-you for the info! Spent an hour and half at a plumbing supply showroom yesterday! Won't know until room is gutted what the current drain lines look like and if it will be easy (and not expensive) to move the toilet. Everything hinges on the toilet! haha. Picked out items that I liked but didn't order anything yet. Like the Kohler Artifacts line and the faucet is similar to your Moen's @crl. Will probably go with that line's shower head and hand held, Memoirs Stately toilet. Think it all keeps within the traditional style of the room and house and still clean lined. (liked the Grohe lines, too, but thought the Kohler Artifacts line was a better match for the room). Even picked out a drain cover--who knew there were so many choices! And no tub. In fact taking out the tub. Rarely used, gives us much more room to play with and we have two other tubs in the house.

Of course! I saved all my links to purchased items. Ours is chrome but they do have brushed nickel. Check out that entire Parma line by Danze. We used brushed nickel fixtures from that line (sink and shower) in another bathroom we remodeled a few years ago.

I will tell you that the flow from the first type of faucet you posted will splash quite a bit more than you might expect. The old-style diffuser-type faucet (like the second one appears to be) might be more to your preference for a kids bath. Is your rectangle sink a barrel-shape or is it fairly flat on the bottom? I was really surprised how much splash I had with our new faucets.

Thanks for the feedback. I believe that it is barrel shaped. However, I cannot be certain because the cabinets / sink have not been delivered yet.
