Help - Micro/convection oven doesn't fit!
Comments (1)I'm not familiar with that specific model but I know sears often put "see instructions with unit" or something on most/all of there online specifications tabs. Then they don't give you access to those manuals, good ol' sears - thanks. For most conv/micros the most important clearance is usually the top and bottom. Think about it all those people with these built in above their oven in a tall cabinet. These things are @ 27" +/- and ovens go in a 27" or 30" cabinet. SO......you'd have zero side clearance or 1.5" max on the sides. They therefore such air in the bottom and exhaust out of the top or vice versa. What does the manual say about top/bottom clearances ??? Comments (9)"Many manufacturers will require a heat shield between a range and cabinets or ovens and cabinets." Residential kitchen equipment is zero clearance to the sides and back. The sides and back can be directly against flammable surfaces without any fire hazard. This is one of the problems that show up when commercial equipment is used in a residential setting. Most commercial gear is NOT zero clearance, and does not even have to follow rules about oven door temperatures. In a commercial kitchen you are expected to know the doors (and even the door handles if the equipment has been on all day) are hot enough to burn. Insulation only slows the movement of heat, it does not stop it. Turn the oven on high enough for long enough and the cabinets will get warm. Comments (9)This is precisely why we stuck with our old, tiny fridge for so long in the old kitchen. I didn't want to cut out the cab above (would have been necesaary to lose several inches for a newer fridge) and lose the storage. Plus, my cabs then were site built so all the uppers on that row were one long piece. I second, or third, the suggestion to check the fridge specs. It might be that the measurement to the top of the hinge is what's holding you up. The body of the fridge could be shorter and fit under your existing cab. The fridge doors where the hinges attach will stick out beyond your upper cab anyway unless the fridge is a built-in unit. Comments (122)yes have electric 3 yrs old & propane fueled 7 yrs old in different homes. no issues w doors (except to adapt to left closing). both perform well. electric more bells whistles being newer.. digital and pizza stone. however on advice on tech (we had 1 svc call for faulty thermostat ez repair but they pulled entire panel and replaced), pizza stone carefully removed, stored. this way oven heats and cools faster. note that neither throws excessive heat into space. trade off is a fan running to aid slow deliberate cool down. this might annoy in an open space eat in kitchen. our fan friendly oven is installed in walk in pantry utility room that houses freezer and extra refrig (main kitchen has 30" Leibherr)...See Moreglossy77
