Thanks everyone! Well I've only baked one thing - gyro meat stuffed in a loaf pan sitting in a water bath. Way to test for oven for evenness, huh? LOL! Oh yeah, and I reheated some pizza. The bad news is I'm getting an off smell - kind of like a burny-melty smell. I can't imagine it's anything other than the fact that it's packed in there tight to the walls without the required airspace. I really don't think there's anything wrong with the oven as the guy even called me back to see how it worked out. So...this means more cabinet modification than I already did. Fortunately the stack is at the end of a run and there's room to spare, so I'll just run some plywood floor-to-soffit about two inches to the right, cut out the existing cabinet in the oven space, put in new shelves, make a dummy face frame. Gawd this thing is sounding uglier by the minute, huh? I guess at least it'll be fully in the hole instead of sticking out as it does now. It really shouldn't be that big of a project, but if you saw the state of my house you'd understand why I'm not particularly happy about spending the time and effort on a temporary fix like. If I could edit my first post I'd change it to, "My new oven doesn't fit...what a PITA."

mfrog and pebbles123: I got it from buy.com because I couldn't find one in a retail store anywhere. Their website says you should call the manufacturer if there is a problem other than shipping damage. I just called Panasonic back again and the woman told me that they have quality control and they would not sell a product that has a defect. LOL, right! I made the mistake of telling her that I paid $540 for it and she then told me to go to the Panasonic website and look up the item. It was listed as $699 and backordered so she said mine must have been refurbished or a used model and they couldn't be responsible for it. I told them where I got the oven the first go round and they were OK to service it. Then she had me put in my zipcode and Best Buy came up and she said that was the only authorized dealer she could recommend. Best Buy only had it online too. Unfortunatley I couldn't get the store link to work to check the price while I still had her on the phone but I went to bestbuy.com afterward and it was $599. Hmmm...I thought it couldn't be below $699 if it was legit. I went to the buy.com website to look up their return policy and it says you can return defective product for exchange but it is up to them to decide if it is defective once they receive it. So if they say the door is OK, I'm stuck with shipping there and back. ARGH!!!!

I have very limited space in width and depth in which to place my double ovens, so I will have to keep this issue in mind. Also, can you tell me the width of both your oven and your cabinet? I was planning a 27" cabinet for my 27" ovens, but was told that for a 27" oven you need a 30" cabinet. I am hoping that someone gave me the wrong information because I do not even have ONE extra inch.

Would you be able to measure your rough opening? Because you have inset cabinetry, these ovens will protrude out further when you follow standard installation specs. The Jenn Air specs recommend a 28 1/2” cutout for standard installation, where the doors will be proud of surrounding cabinetry. The doors are about an 1 1/8” thick. With only a 1/2” countertop overhang, your oven door will protrude. Judging from the size of your cooktop, there may be room for your GC or cabinet maker to enlarge the opening to 30 1/4” in the face frame and perhaps remove a section of the back of the cabinet to slide in the oven for a semi flush install. You will likely run into the same problem with another wall oven if you install the same way as the door will still stick out an inch from frame face.
