Comments (45)Thanks guys, lucy, i'm not just throwing away my meds all at once and i'm not doing it on a cut off my nose to spite my face attidude.I'm trying to save mine and my daughters life for as long as i can. We have between us had 5 horrible misdiagnosis by doctors that have left both of us disabled in differant ways and are on disability because of it. The reason i have CHF is because of diabetic meds i took for years.I had a stroke because of another medication prescribed. Had almost a 3month bad reaction to another drug even tho it was on my records not to give it to me.The doctor forgot to read that page for the reactions i had before.I did'nt have to pay for that hospitalization.Because they thought i'd sue. I was hospitalized for severe pain in the left back upper abdomen and was dehydrated, high temp, high wbc. Ihad sat at home in pain for 5 days because of my warrented distrust of doctors. Went to emergency room ,was admitted. However the ER record that showed a large kidney stone blocking the tube at the kidney was left in ER.Floor dr. could'nt come up with diagnosis, however bp had shot up So dr gives me lisenopril in hosp.Turns out as with a few other drugs i had a one in 10,000 reaction to drug. temp up, slight rash and my throat started slowly swelling.Nurses said i was having a panic attack and had lain on my pillow wrong and had a crick in neck.I lay like that over nite till i could'nt talk and was having trouble breathing. When things were finally under controll again My DD asked the dr. What about the kidney stone? Dr. said "what kidney stone? After an MRI, i was transferred to another hosp and emergency surgery done. The kidney dr. said he did'nt know how i stood the pain that long.Sometimes the pain is better than the cure.DD,s lawer wanted me to sue, said i had an ironclad case. I do not sue people because that could not make me whole and that is all i want. That is not all thats happened to me and my dd in the health care system nor anywhere near all my health problems. bu it's all i'll talk about for now anyway.Does that give you an indication of my feelings for health care. Yes i have a resonable dr now and no i would'nt tell you if he told me to forget medical care and go for the herbs.I'm not stupid either and i like this man. eric, my feelings do not reflect on you in any way. I don't understand this prolong life attitude. For what? The quality? I'm not afraid to die and i wont go looking for death either. Obviously i'm not afraid of pain either. If i take care of myself i'll probably have less of it. No i don't think dr.s care either except when it applys to them or their familys along with apollig and most of the populace. Eric again i'm not saying you are like this but this is how the med field is perceived by many. i also wish the med profession and herbalism could peacefully join together and in some countrys this is and has always been so. Just not here. but more importantly the patients and doctors and nurses need to peacefully join together. The populace needs to be educated in basic understanding of medicine and health and the med field needs to be educated on talking on a level playing field to patients. Patients are much more intelligent than most med field people think. They are in general just lazy. LOL! Eric, as far as i know you do talk to and understand your patients .but most dr,s don't. When standard billing practice is to charge the patients for all care and meds caused by doctors mistakes, What can you expect? The way i put researching, on google i was misunderstood. That is what i do. I enjoy it. but not to have to proove everything i say on line. Tomorrow i'll address the other thread. just glancing through i saw a link to an herb that might help me. Thanks much. I'll thankfully look into it. See you tomorrow. vickie...See MoreThis really makes my blood boil!!!!!!
Comments (10)Hi Steve. I live in western NY, and I have to say, I did pretty darn good with buy in all my citrus trees this year at a great price BUT, I waited for end of season clearance sales. If I lived closer to you I would love to show off my trees! I am very proud of them, as I am sure you are very proud of your trees! Hi Patty! Thanks for your input. I always appreciate hearing from you. I do see what you mean in regards to this being an issue just about everywhere. In south Florida you can buy all kinds of rare, hard to find tropical fruit trees, but it does not mean that they will grow, and fruit for you! I may just take you up on your advice and contact the growers, and let them know that they need to change there care tags, so there nice trees have a better chance of surviving, AND most importantly, the customers that but there trees are happy! Why just sit here and whine about it? My parents raised me to do something about the situation if I didn't like it! Hi Mike! Sorry you had your issues with dealing with salesman that couldn't help you with what you needed. At one point in my life, I was very into the whole fish tank hobby, and I have to say, I did pretty well with it, and we still do have some excellent pet shops locally that do give out good advice! I also agree with what your saying about Four Winds. They are great to deal with. When I see people complaining about there prices, I try and remind them that you are getting what you paid for. Once you have bought and received a Four Winds citrus tree, you can clearly see the HUGE difference in there quality. I cannot think of ANY mail order grower that offers higher quality trees than Four Winds BUT, they are not a local grower. They are in the citrus belt and I expect growers in those areas to have more knowledge and tips for growing citrus, but like Patty said, you still see sellers in those areas that don't know what they are doing. Hi John. I also appreciate your response, but most of all, thank you for verifying that you provide the correct info for growing your Mayan Meyer lemon trees! I really do appreciate all of you taking the time to check out my post, and for understanding just why I get so angry with some(not all), of these darn local nurseries and garden centers, but in my experience this summer, it seems like the damn growers are also a big reason as to why the customers fail at growing citrus trees. My hope is that some day citrus trees will be more readily available and common in the north east, and more importantly, the customer will feel more confident in growing them. For this to be realistic though, the nursery or garden center is going to have to also carry the products that ensure the proper health of the tree. I wish that the Miracle Grow company would re evaluate there Citrus and cactus mix. It is NOT good for anyone to plant citrus trees into that soil unless you add stuff to it to make it more porous and free draining! They also need to carry fertilizers that are good for the trees, and more importantly, when they do have a good fertilizer, they need to keep producing it, and NOT DISCONTINUING IT....right PATTY! Thanks again everyone for listening to me complain about this stuff! Maybe things will slowly change, and improve! We can only hope right! I'm not a financial planner (and wouldn't want to steer you in the wrong direction) so I would suggest asking your broker or CPA this question. Martin Weiss (Weiss ratings) talked about treasuries in April 06'. Here is what he had to say. "I can put my keep-safe money in 3-month Treasury bills or in a Treasury-only money market fund. The advantages are many: Advantage #1. Safety. As long as I wait the 13 weeks until my T-bills mature, the Treasury Department guarantees zero risk of loss. And even in the very rare event that I sell them on the secondary market at a loss, the loss would be so tiny I'd need a microscope to see it. Is the U.S. Treasury really a good credit risk? Some people are so concerned about the government's bulging debts and run-away deficits they're beginning to wonder, and I don't blame them. But it's still the highest rated borrower on the planet. So until someone offers me a better alternative, that's where my keep-safe money is staying. Advantage #2. Rising yield. A couple of years ago, the yield on short-term Treasury bills was hovering so close to the zero line it felt like I was paying the government for the privilege of loaning it my money. Plus, at that time, there was a big gap between the ultra-low yield on 3-month T-bills and the still-decent yield on 30-year Treasury bonds. But now T-bills yields have mostly caught up, and the gap has narrowed tremendously. Every time the Fed hikes interest rates by a quarter point, the yield on my T-bills promptly rises by about a quarter point. And every time Wall Street trumpets no more rate hikes coming, the Fed sends not-so-subtle hints that it's going to raise them some more. That's what happened after the last Fed meeting. And from everything I can see, that's what's going to continue happening after the next Fed meetings for as far as the eye can see. Good. My T-bill yield, although still not high enough to give me any thrills, just keeps moving up and up. Advantage #3. Liquidity. With a Treasury-only money fund, I can get my money out so quickly it's like having the cold cash in my night table when I wake up every morning. I can write checks on the fund to immediately pay my bills. Or I can call the fund and have them wire the money to my local bank within 24 hours. Advantage #4. One Account. Some people have bank accounts coming out of their ears. They've got checking accounts, savings accounts, money market accounts and various CDs under the $100,000 FDIC limit. I don't. Except for a local checking account I use for small monthly bills, I have just one single, multi-purpose Treasury-only money market account that does it all. It's not FDIC insured. But that doesn't bother me because the U.S. Treasury Department guarantees all the securities that the fund buys on my behalf. Advantage #5. Exempt from local income taxes. On the surface, the yields on CDs and Treasuries are similar. But there's a significant difference: The Treasuries and Treasury-only money funds are exempt from local and state income taxes. Bank CDs and money funds invested in CDs are not. This isn't an issue for us now because we live in Florida, and Florida has no state income taxes. But it certainly would have made a difference when we lived in New York. Ditto for states like California or Massachussets. Advantage #6. Inflation protection. People ask: Suppose inflation surges or the dollar falls in value? What good are your dollar-denominated Treasury bills going to do you then? Answer: I get most of my protection from the rising yield: The higher inflation goes, the better my yield is going to get. Will the higher yield always be enough to cover the loss in the dollar's purchasing power? Probably not. But in any case, I can get the rest of my protection elsewhere." Comments (17)I used to have a terrible amount of allergies and moved to Calgary for 5 years. While there, I had very, very little allergy problems. Since coming back, more than 20 years ago, I have had little problem until the last couple of years but have been taking antihistamine the last 2 years as well, and it has kept them mainly under control. I took shots for many, many years before going to Calgary. My mothers family had a history of weak lungs, too. Last winter was the first year that I can remember since a very young child of not having bronchitis or pneumonia. A nice change. Ole joyful, when do you have your ultra sound, or have you had it. Please, please ask your Dr. how active you can be. I've seen you running to the car, too. How do you do that at our age? You don't want a piece of this clot breaking off and moving to your heart or brain. Believe me, it can happen. I told you about my father. I'd terribly hate to see that happen to you. All the best and please keep us informed. Ivamae...See Morevee_new
