OT: Browsing vs ordering at library and bookstore

I had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner last week with my husband and three other couples. During coffee and dessert, one woman mentioned that she no longer browses at the library, she looks up books and places them on order, then picks them up when the library calls. She is the wife of a retired librarian, and they for the most part read library books. It turns out nearly everyone at the table does something similar, they no longer browse the shelves. I do order books from the library and bookstores, but browsing the library, and bookstores (especially when I travel) is a favorite of mine. I often find new authors and interesting topics that way. Everyone at the table was the babyboom age group, and I was one of the youngest by nine or ten years, so it isn't a digital age vs older folks sort of thing.

Do you still browse? Are browsers like me a dying breed?
