Don't waste your time with Park seed
Comments (34)I have never ordered from Park because of high prices and high shipping. I don't order from Burpee either. I take my chances of finding something I like when the seed racks go on sale at 50% off. I do order from ValueSeeds because they are Thompson and Morgan seeds at a reduced price. The selection is not that good, but I always find something I want. I used to order from Pinetree all the time, year in and year out, but I found that I was not happy with the quality of the plants I had from their seed. I started to suspect that they are not as good at quality control as I thought they should be. The disappointments got to be too many and it outweighed my happiness over the prices. They are also small amounts, which suited me at one time but doesn't anymore. Have ordered from Select Seeds and that worked out fine but not cheap either. FEDCO is a great company. They are as good as Johnny's Seed but much cheaper IMO. Lots of seeds for the price, good selection. Shipping prices were great. Fragrant Path is a great little seed company, good quality, good prices and good shipping price. I just wanted to remind everyone that there is a rating forum on GW. You can post about your favorite or least favorite vendors. You might want to look there for ideas too. Garden Watchdog is great too, I use them a lot. pm2...See MoreDon't you feel any pressure to Buy American??
Comments (52)NO. I think the same way as ebse - my husband and i slog it out to make money, get no benefits for being responsible with money, just keep seeing our taxes shooting up and up as a reward for our hard work. So, I buy the best value for my money. I hate my old GE profile cook top and am waiting to get rid of it. My fridge is a sub-zero and pretty much every thing else in my kitchen is not american. BTW/ we have never owned an American car - but, our last european car was manufactured in South Carolina - so maybe that is not true, after all. I am american, but have worked for 12 years in a Japanese semi conductor company with huge operations and thousands of american employees in California. So, what is American and what is non-american anymore? This is a global economy whether we like it or not. So, I am always happy to buy the best quality for my money without any pressure to buy american. If some american companies suffer (especially in the auto sector), it is not because of our lack of support, it is because of the poor business strategies - and anyway, Congress is always there to bail them out with my tax $$$$. So, no worries, I am supporting them by working hard to pay my taxes :)...See MoreAlarm co. to remove equipment if we don't have them monitor??
Comments (21)We bought our home 7 years ago and a security system was installed as an option, so we "own" it. A few years ago we dropped the monthly monitoring, as we weren't doing much travel and felt it was not a necessary expense. Recently there was a group of burglars "working" our area. They would enter homes in broad daylight (after determining no one was home), open the garage door, bring in their truck, ransack the home, then leave. We decided to start using our security system again. I phoned around for rates on monitoring and was surprised at the spread in monthly cost. We chose a company that was licensed, no BBB complaints, etc. They came out and did a full "tune up" on the system, replaced batteries, etc. for $95. The monthly fee is $20. We're doing more travel now, so the peace of mind is worth a lot. IMPORTANT: Monitored systems are usually "hooked up" to fire station monitoring for a fire. If you're not home and a fire starts, who knows how long it would take for someone to notice and call the FD. With the monitored system, the FD comes immediately. Another reason to have monitored security is for the "panic alarm" which you can activate if you're home and a break-in occurs....See MoreDon't know if I can go on like this anymore
Comments (128)Hi, I am new to this forum but reading everyone's comments made me feel so much better about the way I feel. I have been with my fiance for 11 years since his son was 2 years old. His ex is a psychopath, she has tried to kill herself multiple times in front of the child and suffers from bipolar and depression. We have been to court multiple times and everytime her family swoops in to protect her and the child says he wants to stay with his mom. We just got finished wasting $6k on an attorney for family court because she broke up with her boyfriend, went out drinking and got a dwi and then told the cops she was going to kill herself so she spent the weekend handcuffed to a hospital bed. She has manipulated her son into thinking that everything is his father's fault. He is now 13 years old and just called up my fiance to tell him he doesnt want to talk to him or see him anymore, and my fiance is beside himself. We have done so much, he is such a wonderful father, he never says a bad word about his ex to his child and has done everything to try to make up for the stress his mother puts him through and this is how he is repaid. I have spent the past 11 years giving up my weekends to have his son here, we sold our house last year to buy a house in his school district because she couldn't find am apartment I'm the district. We have gone above and beyond, I just can't take anymore. Now I have to see all of the pain my fiance is going through and there is nothing I can do. I feel helpless and deep down in side I'm happy to get a break. I just feel like I have never had a life with my fiance that didn't involve his son and his ex and now I could possibly have a chance but he is so broken over his son. I feel horrible saying this but I dont care if he doesnt come over anymore on the weekends the only reason I care is because it hurts my fiance so badly. I also fear how it will be when his son decides to come back around because I am angry for what he has done to his father and have a lot of resentment. Sometimes I feel like just giving up....See MoreUser
