Belle Portugaise questions

I'm awaiting delivery of this rose. My thought is training it (letting it grow really) on a large male Pistacia vera tree. I don't know if you have seen male pistachio trees (used as pollinators in pistachio orchards), they are decidous and can get quite large with a dense canopy. My hope is that the rose will bloom before the tree completely leafes out in spring. Is this a good idea? As pistachio trees are quite efficient in absorbing humidity from the soil maybe the rose will suffer? I have thought about lining the planting hole with cardboard to give the rose a bit of time to establish and also keep it in a pot for a season (as I do usually). Are these good ideas? Any idea how far away from the trunk I should plant it? Also the options to plant it are really either NE or SW of the tree. My house is NE of the tree and I would obviously like to be able to see the rose blooms from the house. Which side of the tree should I plant it?

Too many questions I'm afraid. Any suggestions appreciated.
