BM or SW Paint gurus: Need rec's for small half master bath
Comments (16)Thanks, rorah, and others. I tend to gravitate towards cool vs. warm colors here. Can you try a mock-up of the Stonington Gray since I have two gallons of it? Also, maybe the Powell Buff. Not sure about Kangaroo. ?? I would likely need to stop at BM and see what kind of samples they have of these colors. DH does like the Nantucket Fog, and he said he was skeptical about the gray for a BR. So, in all likelihood, we are going to end up keeping it, so, yes, that means painting the bathroom. At least I don't have to hire painters to do it. I have had some issues with balance and vertigo over the past couple years, so I did not feel comfortable taking on a job where I'd need extended time on a ladder or step stool, but I'd be able to do that small space. I could send DH up on the ladder, but I'm the painter. He is a wonderful man, but he is not handy at all. I've done this entire interior on our house except for this BR. If I did it while he was home on a weekend, that would be OK for safety. I'll probably need to sell the leftover Stonington Gray on Nextdoor. I also have 3 gallons of primer. They are about 2 years old but have never been opened, so I'm sure I can't return them. Comments (7)I looked up Wool Skein and it seems like it is more of a yellowish-beige than a gray/greige like Clay Beige. I am open to other suggestions as well. Yep. Closet color is different from a color match. Out of all the SW colors, Wool Skein is the most like Clay Beige in terms of hue, value, chroma and LRV. And it's true that color can be off from one purchase to the next. Even the shaker speed can affect how the colorants are blended into the base. It's always a good idea to buy the quantity you need the first time around....See MoreNeed gray SW paint color to go with Waypoint "stone" cabinets.
Comments (22)What furnishings and their colors will go in the space? What Lighting will be in the space. I realize you are under construction, but will you have recessed lighting? Under cabinet lighting? Pendants, etc. That floor tone will suck up color and with your covered porches that will greatly diminish natural light. I would consider BM Oxford White walls. It is a great white and will bring nice contrast without messing with more grays. You need sample boards that you take to the construction site and see what they do in what light you do have. I assume you are at least framed and closed in?...See MoreWant to repaint Accessible Beige. To what?
Comments (15)Have you thought of a light green? I could see both light blues or greens in your space, @MomMom M. Anyway, just watched Sarah Richardson's paint tour of her Starlight Farm on YT. Her colour palette is all about soothing whites and watery colours and when she waxed poetic about Dulux' Chelsea Fog in her principal bedroom. "....a bit of green, a bit of blue, a bit of grey...", I thought of your post. She calls it a changeable colour (which means light can probably make it look totally different depending on time of day). She also has a great neutral alternative to white and grey that's not really beige (Glidden's Meeting House White) and talks about mixing warm and cool colours in her home. I think I've used Dulux in our powder room but have no experience with Glidden. Anyway, her little tour certainly piqued my interest in these two brands. @Jennifer Hogan's statement that "everyone has a different happy place when it comes to color." is SO true. It doesn't matter if we can't find online reviews on a paint colour. What matters is we like the colour. (Assuming we're painting for ourselves and not resale, of course. :)) Best of luck with your search. Hope you'll report back....See Moreeld6161
