LG's WM3987 is the only full-size (27"w) combo W/D sold in the U.S.; fortunately it's a good one, (4.2 cu.ft. capacity, 1200 RPM spin, heats water up to 158F, has separate prewash/main wash/fabric softener/bleach dispensers). Several manufacturers sell shallower 24"w washer/dryers, but LG's WM3455 is probably the best, although it's rather pricey. It has 2.7 cu.ft. capacity, 1300 rpm spin, heats water to 158F, though lacks a separate bleach compartment. Looks to have a big door opening for a compact washer, though I haven't seen one IRL. Both of these run on 120V/15A, which means slow water heating and even slower drying, but also that it will plug into your apartment's nearby outlet if it isn't wired for 240V and may be advantageous if you're not allowed to add a 240V circuit. Fagor's FAS 3612 is a considerably less expensive choice, and faster because it runs on 240v power. Asko seems to have dropped their combo W/D, and the Eurotech clone thereof isn't sold anymore either. These had a poor rep for reliability anyway; they were made by a different branch of the company than other Asko laundry machines. Avoid anything that doesn't heat the wash water.

I bought a Miele 3035 (stainless) and vented dryer last year (funny they are still selling 3033 that as it was discontinued in favor of the 3037 which is the newer model.) Didn't go with Bosch as I was told that vented dryer was being discontinued. After my purchase, I read here that Miele was discontinuing their vented dryer -- may be that's the holdup? Between 2 houses I've had both pairs. Hard to go wrong with either. If you want a slightly larger capacity and don't care about very hot water or control then Bosch is a good choice. If you need high heat cycles, excellent control and superior cycles for things like woolens then with Miele.

I think I'd rip out a wall and sell a kidney before going ventless. Though I've heard a couple of folks here say they like them, I have used them often in the UK and find them slow, and sometimes nasty. For suburbanmd, if you have a long or awkward duct run, something that might help is to add a dryer booster. I have the AMAZING FANTECH BOOSTER which I love. Dryer on steroids! For the OP, I am so sorry for your difficulty. That seems the wrong material to have used for ducting to begin with. I know $800 is a lot of money, but I think you will find it money well spent. If in fact the duct CANNOT be blown out? I bought a house once with a clogged run -- long, lateral run -- and my intrepid plumber-pipe fitter uncle blew it out with . . . an air compressor, IIIRC. Pounds of s**t flew out of that thing. Still, if what you have is the wrinkly, shiny stuff, it will just clog up again, won't it?

The finish time counts down to 0 minutes. Then the temperature holding time starts. Unlike with washers, there is no mention of coronavirus anywhere. I don't know if HygieneDry has made it to the US yet... but I assume one could run a timed cycle after the clothes are dry. I don't know how hot Miele heat-pump dryers get. My Bosch surpasses 158°C as it overdries clothes on its Anti-Allergy cycle, with 140 to 149°C being the normal temp at the end of a normal cycle. Edit: I just checked the manual for the European Little Giant models: the custom cycle programming mode allows a temp of up to 167°C to be set. My bathroom is about 65 ft² and even with the door shut (not recommended) it never got above 79°F with my Bosch dryer doing full loads. The Miele dryers are pretty quiet.
