"Scare" me? No. I'm not very scare-able

Annoy me? Yes. I'll move to another lane so they can be behind someone else or if on a freeway, I'll speed up for 5 minutes or so that there's an adequate distance between us.

I get annoyed like Snidely and move away from them just as I would from any other bad driver when possible.

What really annoys me is that the texting drivers never pull up to the stoplight or to a reasonable distance behind the car in front of them. They stay so far back the people behind them are unable to make the light or get into the turn lane. I've been tempted to pull in front of them like parallel parking. ;-)

Yep, a texting ding bat rear ended me on the freeway over a year ago. Traffic had been stopped 15-30 seconds, but she did not see it. I still have an aching back. Totaled her Sentra which rammed under the trunk of my car. We had the trunk floor pounded out and our car works fine.

Thank goodness for the rise of self driving cars. They've already mandated that all new cars in the U.S. will have self braking. That won't fix all the cars currently on the road, however.

I move away from them too. I see it all too often.

I heard a really fast car approaching me from behind on a 2 lane each direction 30mph city street the other day. It crossed into oncoming traffic, veered to the left of a Mac truck, going between it and a little car, taking off it's own fender and rear quarter panel, rearing up on it's 2 right wheels, taking a sharp turn to the right behind the Mac truck and onto someones lawn...hitting the curb so hard it landed on all 4's turned 90 degrees around! Whoa!

I yelled to a guy watching it all happen on a bus bench seat...."Is he OK?...."Weeell......"...not even a scratch! So scary!!!!!! and no texting involved....

I'm with the annoyed rather than scared group. A couple times I held my phone up like I was taking video of them (didn't have a camera in my phone) then made a obvious slowdown to let them think I was getting their license number. Now I probably would call and turn them in if the police will enforce it.

I can't help but wonder why that group of "mothers" aren't so vocally against texting, doing makeup, and the other things. Why aren't they sitting in the courtrooms en masse on "DWT" cases?

It is beyond insane. I have a personal license plate on my car and I see people behind me inching up to take a photo of the plate all the time. If I see someone slowing down in the lane I am in, I get around them and do hit the horn to let them know how aggravated I am. Of course their is never a State Trooper on the road when you need one.

Taking a photo of your plate Gretchen? I love reading/deciphering personalized plates, but I've never had the urge to take a picture of one.

The cutest one we've seen in a while was a little 2-seater Smart Car (I believe you have them in the States now), and the plate said Limo4Two

Oh, I love it, limo4two! funny. I don't get scared... I just slow down or speed up to get around them. I would and don't ever honk at them. I would hate to spook them, and make the situation worse.

Moni, who knows of to many cyclists killed by phone attentive drivers.

Moni, it worries me greatly when I know my daughter is riding her bike on public roads. In 2012 Pennsylvania passed a law that a vehicle cannot pass a bicyclist unless he can give 4 feet of space between him and the bicyclist. Ours is a heavily traveled road with a lot of bicycles. Bad enough when the driver ignores the law, but to be distracted, cell phone or whatever, along with ignoring the law is very scary.

I even wait till there is no traffic in view before I ride my scooter to the mailbox at the end of the driveway. It is about 150 feet from an intersecting road. Many times daily I hear the screech of brakes as some inattentive driver suddenly becomes aware. I sit on my porch a lot watching traffic and know that many of them are obviously on a cell phone.
