It's a space you will likely traverse many times a day so you will see the pics, yet, it is still on the edge of the "private realm" of a house so doesn't come with all the mixed messages that attach to prominent displays of famili-abilia located in a your living rooms. A chest as a surface for a lamp and maybe a flower arrangment, or temporary blooming plant in a cachepot, or a bowl of subtle natural potpourri (nothing by Glade or Yankee Candle here.) If you think you might pause and look at the family pics occasionally, perhaps an interesting little side chair to sit in? Nothing cushy as no one expects upholstery in such transit area. On a more utiliitarian note, you might have baskets on the landing that would be the in-transit depot for personal flotsam your family members need to take out of the public rooms and stow appropriately. Baskets would hide the clutter, but still you'd have an ordained place to dump their junk when you want it gone (and once-trained your family members would know where to start looking for things.) I'm thinking of things such as the taken-off sweater, iPad, barrettes, scale-model battleship, tie, college catalogue, etc. Someone entering the house and heading to the public rooms would just see the row of baskets, not the contents (well, unless you needed a place to stow some half-waxed skis left in the family room.) Instead of a chest, if you decided to try the baskets, you could use a table and just tuck the baskets under it. L....See MoreGuest Room Help! Need side tables, lamp, decor, and dresser.

It has dark colors and could be framed in a wood that matches the sleigh bed, get a slightly larger double mat that is not such a brilliant white. Hang the art over the bed so you see it when you enter the room. Think about how your guests use the room. Weekend guests don't need a lot of storage. If the closet is empty you can place a luggage rack inside the closet. If they are watching TV it is usually from the bed. I would place the TV on the wall where they can view tv as they are laying on the bed. A small makeup vanity can serve many purposes, provide a chair for sitting, a desktop, a place to do their hair and makeup. There is one on etsy that may work nicely with your bed. Cherry makeup vanity Matching vanity stool is also available on etsy vanity stool If keeping the art, I would try to incorporate the blue or green colors from the art in the bedding and window coverings. Add a small blanket folded at the foot of the bed, an accent pillow and recover the seat of the vanity stool. Add a small nightstand with a lamp with a blue or green base and a little blue dish where they can set their glasses or phone or watch. Again - on etsy nightstands...See MoreAccent chair and decor help
Comments (30)In my photo the space between wall & chair back is 43” - more than ample walk space. This chair is very large with a 38” depth front of arm to back. Total space used is 6.75’ You said your space is @ 7’ so it seems like you have enough room especially since you’ll likely be looking at smaller chairs than the one I‘m showing you. But, that‘s the reason to place a cardboard the size of chair foot print in the space. To get a better feel for space the object takes up & see how the traffic flows around it, Remember too that with chairs some of the space they take up is with the slant of the back so it’s air space as well as floor space. I can’t tell what your space is between long side of coffee table & couch. I’ve read it should be no more than 16” to allow both leg room when sitting on couch & ability to reach & set drink down. If your space is wider than that, suggest pulling in to try out. That would also give you more potential chair space....See Morehelp with decorating and accent wall ideas
