Thanks to Harneu For a Neat Germinating Idea
Comments (1)That is a cool idea, but that website has to have the slowest loading photos I have ever seen, and I have a fast connection! I have a couple narrow Jiffy type trays that I set on top of the fluorescent fixtures to warm up. Seems to work fine....See MoreI Am Looking for the Right Apron
Comments (21)Thanks everyone for your advice. For those who mentioned sewing my own, unfortunately, I don't sew. Today I went to Sur La Table, and most of the aprons there looked professional, durable, and---heavy. Some of the other aprons mentioned in this thread are so pretty, but several have large prints, which look so charming on the apron, but probably won't on my 5'3" 20-lb.-overweight self. Also, I agree with what Amck said about the ease of the threaded tie, and not having the D-rings. When I looked at Estelle's recommendation of the Williams-Sonoma website, some of the aprons there had that kind of tie without the D-rings. Furthermore, a couple of the reviews on the WS site praised the lightweight comfort. So, I will go there tomorrow, and check it out. Any other suggestions are welcome!...See MoreApron Wearers: Where to store apron?
Comments (22)In the corner of our kitchen, we have a small section of wall between doorways where I have three sets of hooks to store aprons for me, aprons for DH (the hook), and aprons for DD. Bellying up to soapstone (or granite) counters seems to cause micro holes in t-shirts, so now everyone is wearing the aprons more so as not to damage favorite Ts. Holes in t-shirts is an ongoing topic of discussion in the Laundry Forum, and I have figured out from the various hypotheses posted that at least in my family, most of our holes are in locations where we would have bellied up to the counter....See MoreAprons For Mother’s Day
Comments (22)Way back when I was in home ec class in high school. You know the dark ages! Lol We made the simplest cute and useful aprons. I hate losing it in the flood. I will have to make another one. It was basically 2 large rectangles edged on all edges. And a long strip of the fabric deep enough for a pocket. That strip was the same width as the rectangle and was sewn on the front rectangle across the bottom, leaving the top open, like a giant pocket. Then stitch 2 lines from top of pocket to the bottom spaced apart from each other evenly to turn the giant pocket into 3 equally sized pockets. Then stitch the 2 rectangles right side together at the top edges only about 2 inches each. That creates a boat neckline so that you can slip it over your head. Now you have an apron with a boat neckline and a row of 3 pockets along the front bottom. All you need now is a tie. Sew a ribbon or a piece of the fabric, with the edges sewn, to each edge of the front rectangle at waist height. Done. It literally takes less time to make it than it did for me to type this. This style is called a cobbler apron. Similar to this one....See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
