I had several before the flood. I also had a fantastic long full butchers apron made out of used denim from jeans. I loved it! So soft and comfortable. There's a link to one of those on this same page.

I’ve made the denim apron from used jeans. Never throw away a pair of jeans. I cute the pockets from the back, paint snowmen on them and put gift cards in them. Then I use the bottom of the legs for gift bags,/wine bags. Cute 15 inches from the bottom. Square off the cut edge, place the gift/bottle of wine and tie a nice bow at the top. A friend plays cards with a group of ladies but none of them drink. She placed a bottle of grape juice in each one. This year I painted some snowmen on the front near the bottle.they were so cute.

I am 72 years old and have sewed since i’ve Been 12 years old. We have 2 houses that we go back and forth to. Keeping up with the houses and yards can be a full time job. I’m ready to let one of them go but hubby isn’t ready.. Also have 13 grandkids to keep up with. I only sew when I am in the mood these days. If I am in the mood you better look out! ! I always make baby gifts when a shower comes up.. I also love sharing my patterns with others.. I wish postage was cheaper because I would do more.

Susie, was it you who gave me the idea of making aprons out of men's shirts? I made 8 of them for the family one Christmas. That was such a fun project!

Way back when I was in home ec class in high school. You know the dark ages! Lol We made the simplest cute and useful aprons. I hate losing it in the flood. I will have to make another one. It was basically 2 large rectangles edged on all edges. And a long strip of the fabric deep enough for a pocket. That strip was the same width as the rectangle and was sewn on the front rectangle across the bottom, leaving the top open, like a giant pocket. Then stitch 2 lines from top of pocket to the bottom spaced apart from each other evenly to turn the giant pocket into 3 equally sized pockets. Then stitch the 2 rectangles right side together at the top edges only about 2 inches each. That creates a boat neckline so that you can slip it over your head. Now you have an apron with a boat neckline and a row of 3 pockets along the front bottom. All you need now is a tie. Sew a ribbon or a piece of the fabric, with the edges sewn, to each edge of the front rectangle at waist height. Done. It literally takes less time to make it than it did for me to type this. This style is called a cobbler apron. Similar to this one.

They remind me of the ones my mom made. She oriented the towel horizontally then trimmed the bottom and made a casing/tie on the top that matched with seasonal fabrics. She sent them out as the occasion came along. Years later when hers all wore out I re-gifted them back to her. I have never worn an apron so mine were all still good as new!! As you pointed out they are perfect for wiping hands and keeping the clothes underneath clean.

I have made many different kinds of aprons over the years. Susan, I probably was the one that told you about the shirt apron.. They are really cute and a wonderful memory for gift giving. I made one from a black man’s shirt and used a watermelon print and pink rick rack. Oh, how cute this was!! A few years ago a friend at church lost her husband. He always wore bib overalls. I bought 4 pairs at her garage sale sometime later and made her, her 2 daughters and her granddaughter an apron. Then I used the pockets for the gift card thing. Found it on Pinterest. My friend was thrilled..

These aprons are so cute. My dear aunt used to make aprons for all us girls in the family and I cherish mine.

I have to show you what a friend showed off on Mother’s day. A friend made this egg gathering apron for her. My friend & her DH bought a house on a couple of acres last year and she now has laying hens. I had never seen anything like this.

I think those egg aprons are so cute and clever. They are very useful. There are so many cute apron styles and designs. I do wear aprons. My best friend bought me a beautiful one for Christmas this year and I have really enjoyed it. It has a garden design with a rooster on the front.

I have a couple of aprons. I always use one when frying bacon. I love they way they look too. So many cute ones here. I admire the talent involved in making them. My newest one was a gift. My kitchen is done in a strawberry theme and I received this one for Christmas. So neat I decided to hang it on the wall.

Pretty. I have an apron my grandma often worn. she made it and I have it hanging in my kitchen.. the last time I saw her alive was June 1st, 1968. It was my wedding day. She was very ill and all my wedding party went to her house. I think of her almost every day!!
