Cleaning AC evaporator coils in attic

tj starkey

Hello to all,

We have (2) carrier 5-ton units in our attic. Wanted to know for a DIY, is
trying to clean the evaporator coils a reasonable DIY project or not?

I'm looking for some general guidance and the for things I should do or
should not do? As always, I turn-off the power to the unit at breaker panel.

We bought house in 2008-9 and pretty sure coils have not been cleaned. I
change the filters regularly, but was going to clean the coils if they needed it
and do so when it starts to cool off here in TX in about a month. Then, next
summer when it's 100 again, they'll be good to go.

Thank you very much,

tstex
