Range help: Thermador vs. GE Cafe, etc
Comments (1)hi - I am in the same boat as you but comparing Blue Star and Capital and the Thermador was suggested because of the package and I did like the look of it. -I just haven't read the best reviews on Thermador but my sales person said in comparison to Wolf and Viking he would go with the Thermador - I asked if he would suggest any other brand (more commerical) instead of the Thermador and he said, no would go with Thermador. Now this is just what the sales person was telling me - he sells all the brands and pricing is going to be about the same....See MoreCapital Culinarian vs GE Cafe? Yes I'm serious
Comments (9)Interesting - more comments than I expected lean toward the Cafe. The precise oven temperature control is something I hadn't factored in. Our previous (electric) range had digital controls and I'm so used to having them I didn't even think about the fact the CC would mean reverting to the analog oven control, so good point. I know the CC excels in many respects, but since we don't have the luxury of separate wall ovens here I think our range needs to be more of a Jack-of-all-trades. The Cafe seems to fit that bill better for our situation so that's the way I'm going to go. Yes it does looks like a hell of a range, and there actually aren't any cheaper ones that offer such high powered burners and comparable feature set. The Cafe seems to be in a class of its own bridging the gap between typical consumer models and the higher end pro-style ones. The nice thing about a freestanding range is it's easy to swap out, so if I hate it, it's no big deal to change it later. Thanks for the feedback....See Moredual fuel range, kenmore pro 30 or 36 inch,79523,79623
Comments (9)Hi, I lurked on here last year while our kitchen remodel was in full swing. At the time I noticed there wasn't much feedback about these ranges...we purchased a 30" dual fuel model anyway and we've been pretty happy with it. Likes: - the bridge burner and griddle - 18K BTU burner for wok cooking and water boiling - analog oven temp dial - convection oven - in-oven temp probe for roasts - looks Dislikes: - oven racks a little sticky pulling in and out, wish it had the roller racks - lack of fine burner control on the back left burner - ceramic range top kind of a pain to keep clean I found out that these ranges are made by Electrolux in Canada. The Pro ranges are essentially rebranded Electrolux Icon ranges with a few different bells/whistles. We got it from Sears for about $2800 on sale and at that price it was a no-brainer. If you can get it for that or less, I'd think its a great value for a pro-style range. Hope this helps. Chris...See MoreWhich dual fuel range??? Bosch Pro vs Kenmore Pro
Comments (5)Bosch!! Hands Down this was our choice for a new range. I researched on Epinions.com too. I urge you to check this out because this really helped me choose my range. What do I love about my Bosch Dual Fuel Intrega 700??? I love the heavy grates. You can put them in the Bosch dishwasher to clean them. Awesome for me. Easy to clean and they look bran new after a wash. I love the large knobs and the look of stainless and black. I love the convection oven options, the dehydration for fruit or meat options, I like the racks and how they pull out very far for me to baste, marinate or check over stuff. I like the warming drawer to keep stuff warm for a busy family. I lvoe the quick convection broil, or conv bake or just regular bake. I love how fast my burners boil water. We were staying at a friends ski lodge over MLKing holiday. They have an old stove in their place that was so slow by the time it boiled water I did not feel like hot chocolate anymore. I realized how fast my range is. It heats so fast if you do not have all your ingredients ready to go you need to turn the burner off. I love the time cook plan and the auto on or off. I like how fast the oven warms up. My son prefers to cook his snacks in the Oven and used to be a Micro only kid for his corn dogs, nachos, hot pockets, bagels bites.... I don't like the gas on glass feature. I am told it is easier to clean than a stainless with gas grates. However glass really is a pain to clean because you have the burners to content with. BUT, the sealed burners are wonderful. If you have ever had food boil over onto a burner you know too well the horror that is to clean and make the burner funciton again. But the sealed burners mean when hot melted velvetta cheese boils over because your dimwit daughter wasn't paying attention it can not ruin the burner. My daughter never has to worry about boiling over velvetta cheese again because Bosch has this cool opti simmer burner. It doesn't boil over. Well, lets just say she can text, listen to music and be distracted from cooking and the cheese has not boiled over yet. I love my Bosch. It has been a year and wow this is an amazing range. My DH is a Bosch fan. He knows nothing about kitchens, but he is a car guy. And Bosch is German made. DH loves BMW. So when we were searching he felt the German made brand was going to be a great ride. Tight around the corners, sleek, handles well and is reliable. The Bosch is not a car but it is desingned like it is. You will love it too. ~boxerpups...See Morehvtech42
