I love white doors now. We went from builder-grade "oak" doors and trim and recently redid all our trim and doors to white. So bright and clean. We also have hardwood floors so the look is similar to that photo (we also went with 2-panel doors).

With that said, I have seen the 2-tone look and it looks nice, too, but I wouldn't try to match the floors. My preference is white doors to match the white trim, though.

Have you shown him examples of stained door with painted trim? They look good in the right settings. Looking at your pieces, it looks like stain would be a good fit.

Stain one first and try it on for size. You can always paint over it. You can't easily do the reverse.

Here's a different thread with lots of nice inspiration photos. I like the look of stained doors and white trim. That said I'm in the slow process of painting all my interior doors, which were pine stained orange by the previous owner. What type of wood are the doors you purchased? Would you consider having them stained by a pro?

Which makes me think it may be a good idea to give it a shot as pal suggested, and paint over if necessary. We have asked a contractor that we use for some small projects to do it, but he can't fit us in for a while. So my husband may give it a try. Would you do lighter or darker than the floor?

I have white trim and stained doors and floors. We used the same stain as the floors and I think that usually looks best. Do you know the stain of your floors? If its a different wood from the floors it will take the stain a bit differently. If it is a softwood you will want to make sure to use a woodconditioner prior to stain so it doesn't come out blotchy.

Pine can be very blotchy when stained so be careful. I would do white myself.

I've always been a fan of white doors, but f you do try the stain, some of those doors in the link are so beautiful. If you give it a try, I would go darker.

I prefer painted doors with white trim or stained doors with stained trim. We've had both...correction, we HAVE both. All our doors used to be ash with DARK walnut stain. Early 80s ash paneling in the lr stained the same. Crown and base were stained the same. Honestly, I miss it. Now we have white doors and large white crown and base. It's pretty and it stands out against the dark painted walls. We do have one set of double doors with white trim on this side and stained on the other side, which is a large den with stained wood vaulted ceiling and "burnt pumpkin" faux leather look walls. A Texas/cowboy decor. So I guess I'm a "fan" stained doors with white painted trim when it has to work that way <g>
