Tomatos Sprayed with Chlorine Bleach Report
Comments (50)Oh Dawn, I feel for you. They are extremely painful. We moved from Wilson to Lone Grove between my 6th and 7th grade. I had lived in the same house since 2nd grade so knowing that I was moving was kind of exciting so I started packing really early. I had some boxes stored behind a door and I reached down to pick up a smaller one so I could put a large one under it, and a scorpion got me on the little finger. At that time, I had never had a pain that was that bad and of course the only thing we ever kept for pain was aspirin. I remember being on the bed crying with my little finger stuck down in a glass of rubbing alcohol. It didn't help, but it was all I had. With all of your critters, I think you are smart to keep liquid Benadryl for quick action against swelling and such. I wish I could do that but all the liquid that I have ever seen was red and I think it is colored with Red 40. My reaction to dye is so severe that I can only imagine what a liquid dose would do to me if I was already in stress. I drank some pink lemonade one night and almost had to go to the hospital and since I hadn't had anything else for hours before, it was easy to isolate. I was relieved to finally find the cause, but I do have to be careful. I read a lot of labels to make sure I don't get it. When it all started, I would have reactions to meds for no apparent reason because the meds were not related. It was driving my doctor and my pharmacist nuts. We finally learned it was the color, not the medicine. I was sick an awful lot of times from food and medicine before I finally isolated the cause. Years before I had spent the day in the emergency room after taking "pink" medicine. They finally released me, never having known what sent me there. I had to fly quite a lot for my job and I would always take motion sickness meds. I would feel sick, have severe cramps, and more....after every trip. I guess I just thought everyone did. I sure was happy to learn that all I had to do was change brands and I could buy it in yellow. LOL It is a weird allergy and Red 40 is in so many processed foods where you would never expect it. I have hated the taste of Red "things" all of my life. They tell me that only a few people can taste red dye, but it has a very bitter taste to me and leaves a bad aftertaste. Even before I started having bad reactions to it, I tried not to consume it because it didn't taste good. I always loved hard peppermint candy, but there was only one brand that tasted good to me. I love cinnamon but couldn't stand Red Hots because they were bitter. Of course, I could never figure why other people loved red things that I thought were gross. Turns out they didn't taste that way to others, and I was the weird one....See MoreChlorine Bleach in Walmart chicken?
Comments (23)I think you misunderstood. The chicken I was referring to that's not water or chlorine treated is free-range, organic, air cooled chicken. It's double or more the price of regular chicken in a supermarket and maybe its 3 times more expensive or even more than that, than chicken from Walmart. My comment was intended to suggest that it's not necessary to buy such expensive food to ensure a dog is given a wholesome and adequate diet. The article I linked above, written by a veterinary nutritionist, briefly mentioned research results that home diets not developed by a trained veterinary nutritionist may in fact not be healthful for an animal. That suggests that a better choice may be to find a commercial food that the dog's digestive system can tolerate. Just as a data point, my dog's "sensitive stomach" (that led to almost daily vomiting) was "cured" by breaking her total daily ration of mass market (from Petco) dry dog food into more numerous but smaller feedings. It was suspected that maybe she overproduced gastric juice and that more frequent but smaller feedings would solve the problem. It did....See MoreMysterious chlorine bleach smell. Help!
Comments (22)I had this same odor several years ago and found the answer somewhere on the Internet . Now the odor is back but for the life of me my 65 y/o brain would not unlock the info! Today the termite guy came to inspect (do not freak it isn't termites) and noticed the lines to my geothermal furnace were dripping at the couplings and a small puddle of water on the floor! Inside my unit is a drain hose . It was not draining much condensation . Sure enough it was blocked. ( Small amount of water standing in the drain pan) Shazam !!, my atrophied brain said ,"Oh yeah that is what the problem was several years ago!" Gee thanks ancient not so wise one! So I cleaned out the opening at the furnace drain pan with a bottle washer brush but still not draining properly. I mixed a solution of hot tap water and Pinesol and got a small rubber tubing. Poured solution , inserted hose and blew out the line several times. OMG the junk that was in there! Now 4 hours later no more chlorine smell just a light sent of Pinesol. I do not know if other non geothermal units have a drain hose like this but it is worth checking on any units that might have a drain tube such as mine! Hope this helps!...See MoreClorox color load non chlorine bleach
Comments (9)That's great Mimi. I've not seen that product before. I wonder how different it is from regular Clorox 2? I've not used that myself. My inlaws, long time ago, used to use Clorox 2 in every load. I never got on the bandwagon since their clothes and towels had musty/moldy odors. I figured it didn't work very well. They only washed laundry in cold with liquid detergent though. I turned them onto powder Wisk way back when, and that solved their musty odor problem (I never mentioned to them they had it), then powder Wisk went discontinued and they switched to liquid Wisk. The musty/moldy odor returned. I hope your dd continues to have good results with the new product....See Moreaa62579
