I LOVE Amazon Prime. I've had it since it was $79. Not so happy about the now current $99 price, but having Prime sure is nice.

I used Prime when it was $79, and since I'd originally bought it a few years back but where my renewal went into place a week before the $99 fee took hold -- I decided not to renew this year, or at least until I actually move.

I simply wait until I have enough purchases to skip on shipping fees before ordering. And I never watched that many movies anyway.

If I could re-purchase at $67, I would. But I'm a previous user.

We do a lot of Amazon shipping so we have Prime. UPS comes almost every day.

I am considering this. Can those who use it run down what you use it for most. I thought having the lending library would be great for my husband as much as he reads however it doesn't work with the kindle app just an actual kindle. Does kindle unlimited come with prime or is that an extra fee? I do order and might order more if I had free shipping. I currently usually wait till I have enough for free shipping. I just don't know if it would be worth it for me.

Raven, streaming video is a great perk. We don't use it as much as we should....Amazon has original content (Bosch is great!) along with movies and TV shows. Comparable to Netflix but different programs. There is also a music component that I've not used. I honestly have not explored the full range of benefits offered with my membership.....but the lending library is pretty nice.

Most folks think of Prime as "free shipping" but it is a lot more than that. For example, last year, there were some Black Friday events that were open to Prime members first. There are other things too....just can't recall them all!

I've got Bosch on my list of things to watch soon. Am looking forward to it.

I love prime for the streaming video. My children watch that instead of regular tv. I use it on my big tv with a Roku device.

I also use the music app on my iPhone. I check there and can download albums I'm interested in.

The 2 day shipping is good as well, but the TV is where we get our bang for our buck.

Do read the fine print on everything. Prime shipping isn't all free. Often an item on Prime costs $5 more than the same item without prime. They just build shipping into the price. Additionally, often one version will be on Prime, and the others aren't (and sometimes there are different prices depending on color or whatever). That happens more with outside vendors who use Amazon for fulfillment, but sometimes for direct purchases from Amazon, too.

Kindle Unlimited is a separate fee. It does cover about 100,000 popular titles, but the other 500,000 are self-published on Amazon books, so the number of titles available is misleading. Not all the self-published stuff is bad, but little of it is very good, based on my sampling. I got Unlimited at a big discount on Prime Day because I figured I'd use it enough to pay for itself at the reduced price. I figured I wouldn't at the regular price. KindleUnlimited only lets you have ten titles at a time, though you can read them across devices (up to six). You have to give back some to get more.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite which I use for the daily paper. I'm allergic to the new inks and can't read the paper on paper anymore, and I love that it just shows up and I don't have to put on a coat and go outside for it. I read books more on my phone and tablet, however. The lending thing is okay, but I find it confusing.

Echo is also something to look into.

Prime Instant video is great. I use it on my iPad. With titles that aren't on Prime, however, it can be a pain.

The best thing, however, if you live anywhere within the catchment of one of their big distribution centers, is the amount of one day, or even same day, deliveries that are possible. Mimipadv, I definitely remember driving all over town looking for what used to be available at a local store, or should have been available at every store, etc. When you need something right away and don't have time to go chasing it, and Amazon can deliver it for less than parking would cost, it's a real boon.

We live in an area that Amazon has lots to offer same day. It's wild ordering and getting it that day!

As Snidely mentioned, you can hitchhike on someone else's prime account. I'm on a family member's account for prime shipping. But when you are using prime that way, not all features are available to you.

Yes, Mimi, same day delivery is amazing. I haven't gotten anything that way yet. I usually opt for the slowest way and get a buck towards a Kindle purchase.
