Hinged patio doors—Marvin Integrity, Windsor Pinnacle or ThermaTru?

No really recent posts on this, so hopefully pros and homeowners will chime in with a current view. I need to replace 3 patio inswing doors and the preference is for fiberglass with a wood interior. ThermaTru will suffice if I decide wood on the inside isn't critical. What is important is quality of construction and how well the manufacturer stands behind their product. I am able to go with standard size doors and we can work around the minor size differences in openings. I'm particularly curious about Windsor, their current reputation and anyone's recent experience with their Pinnacle line.

I live in the Central Virginia area, so the weather is not extreme, just heat and humidity in the summer with fairly mild winters.

Integrity, the Therma Tru is a decent product not a very good product. Anything Windsor on the other hand..... Are you open to all vinyl as there are very solid products available in your area?

Integrity is my top choice, however I would like to know exactly why the Windsor might not be as good a product - construction? Quality of materials? Support?

I am open to all vinyl, but I would like to know why it might be a better choice than fiberglass. I was under the impression that fiberglass is better than all vinyl. I would appreciate your expertise on why it might not be.

The Windsor is more expensive than the Integrity. Here's the price breakout:

Integrity Inswing French Door w/ multipoint lock, hardware, screen door $2,225.60

Windsor Pinnacle Two Panel w/multipoint lock, hardware, screen door $2,391.77

Very sorry to hear about your experience aa1notary. I have no experience whatsoever with that product nor any bias one way or the other, but most often times water infiltration is due to installation issues as opposed to the product itself. The video has expired, but it sounds like perhaps you have horizontal sliders? Something as simple as caulked over or clogged weep holes could cause water to accumulate in the sill... Again, sorry to hear about your experience. I'd recommend having the installation company out to inspect, and possibly in conjunction with that manufacturer rep so that they cannot each blame each other when the other is not present.

Marvin Integrity vs Therma Tru French Patio Doors??

We replaced our French doors with Marvin aluminum clad. That was a few years ago and Marvin quality and quality control had changed significantly since then. There were two things that made us choose Marvin instead of others. One was the screen. Different brands can have some really wonky screens so don't over look that function if it's a factor for you. I have no idea if this applies to Integrity but the Marvin doors have a bolt that goes through the top and bottom of the door into the frame when you lock the handle. This is a very nice feature to help get a good seal and help prevent your door from warping. Having said that on the Marvin products we installed this year we have had a number of issues which seem to grow by the day. Paying more does not always equate to a better product. We did install a smooth star door this year although not a French door. Aside from the SDL (which I have not seen on Integrity) I think you'd be hard pressed to see a quality difference between the two brands. The interior of the smooth star fiberglass is very similar to Marvin's factory painted wood. You really would have to be standing right next to it to see a difference.

@Kate Kate what did you end up choosing? We are going to use Windsor Pinnacle's (they are great here in the high, dry alpine desert of the west). I remember the awful rotting Marvin issues of years past (they had a period where the sills were rotting in a lot of their windows. We looked at both, and having used to have Marvin's, I was shocked at how cheap and flimsy they felt in contrast to the Windsor's. We were told Windsor's performed like Kolbe's, didn't have as high-quality detailed finishes as Kolbe's (like immaculate seams/connection points on mullions, etc). I've lived in houses with Kolbes and Marvins.... and now building our own, we're deliberating between a Marvin multislide vs. a Windsor multislide and I was curious if anyone out there has installed/used a multislide door in their home and can weigh in!

Honestly Windsor from my experience and that of others pros I know is just not quality wise a solid product, performance values are not that good and the support has always been pretty weak.

Fiberglass is a solid product and a quality vinyl like a Softlite or Okna are generally better performance wise. You are in the general area of the best vinyl manufacturers out there and I do believe windows on washington may even be able to help or point you towards a good dealer/installer.

There are only 3 building supply dealers in my area, and none of them carry Soflite or Okna. They do 2 hours away in Northern VA (SoftLight) and Okna's "Find a Dealer" is "Coming Soon" on their website. So for local support/response I have a choice of Provia (getting a quote from Richmond dealer), Marvin, JeldWen, Windsor, Anderson and ThermaTru.

I will research performance values, but I find it interesting that Windsor's prices are higher than Integrity. I haven't gotten an Anderson quote yet, but I'd go with Integrity over Anderson anyway.

While I have more confidence in homeowner reviews/feedback on this site, there are a few negative opinions on Windsor windows on a couple of oddball sites, however you never really know if they are paid trolls or actual complaints.
