Windsor or Marvin Windows?

Kate

We are in the beginning stages of building our new home and our first selection is windows. Our builder is recommending Windsor windows. The dealer offers both Windsor and Marvin. The quote for Windsor Pinnacle was similar to Marvin Elevate. We liked the look of the Windsor Pinnacle better, but we've read lots of positive things about Marvin windows. We loved the Marvin Signature line but that quote came in about 20% higher than the Elevate. Our builder says you're just paying for the name. The dealer suggested we could do Marvin Signature Casement windows and patio doors and Marvin Elevate for all of our double hung windows to save money, but my concern is that the signature are aluminum and the elevate are fiberglass and that they may wear differently over time. Any advice on which route we should go? Is there another window that compares to Marvin windows? We would love a wood clad interior window with 7/8" simulated divided lites.
