Where do you put them all????
Comments (19)dog and kids trampoline? Jess, how nice that your dog uses the trampoline. My old house had a lot 135X65 with about a third covered with the house, driveway, sidewalks and garage. My back yard was completly covered with roses. A 20X30 greenhouse was built over three rose beds and a pond. I grew 550 roses in the ground, a few more in pots on the driveway. Rhonda says it all with deciding what you must have for grass. I did have a small lawn in front and on the parkway. This took me all of 20 minutes to cut. It took longer to get the mower out than it did to cut it. I added roses every year although, towards the end, I had to be very selective due to space limitations. Because of my growing zone, I could plant on 18 inch centers. By mid summer the roses were intergrown but the overall effect was stunning. Each spring I ordered 10 more roses than I had room for. Some years winter kill or poor performance made room for the excess, other years I had to make room for the excess and for any I picked up in my travels. I seldom returned from a vacation with out a slew of cuttings or half a dozen potted roses I'd picked up along the way. So you see, rosepep, you don't need a massive garden and lots of space. You just need determination and a shoehorn. I must admit though, in your zone, 18 inch centers would be hard to do. Planting in pots limits root size, resulting in smaller bushes so that's one way to do it. That would make it easier getting rid of plants you don't want or moving them around to get a different look....See MoreWhere to put all the stuff by the sink..faucet, air switch etc.
Comments (6)Take a look in your sink box for the templating paper that is hopefully there. I do know there is/was a thread on faucet placement awhile back... For me, I respectfully disagree with smiling in that I wanted everything on my dominant hand. And because of our bowl configuration it is. Most templaters/installers want to line them up in a straight line along your back edge. Placement issues... make sure they are far enough away from your sink lip if it is an undermounted sink. (don't ask! ;) make sure to leave enough room between the faucets and your back wall to avoid water being trapped and to make it easy to get a sponge/towel in there to cleanup I like the air switch near by to the garbage disposal and is the far right side of our setup Depending on the size of your sink to cabinet, you might have room to put the hot water faucet on the opposite corner from your main faucet. Wherever you put the two faucets, try to avoid putting them next to each other, as to avoid them banging into each other... Templating... lots of little decisions to make at this time. Have your favorite vice available afterwards for celebration!...See MoreWhere do you all put your picture frames in the house?
Comments (11)That’s a tough one, especially when so many friends and family gift us framed photos that don’t always necessarily go with our decor. I like uniformity, and what I’ve done is take photos I like and scan them and convert to B&W. Years ago I bought black IKEA frames and cropped and printed the family and friends photos in squares and framed them to my liking, and created a row of framed photos in my dining area, opposite my art gallery wall. I think it looks “intentional,” and I get oohs and ahhs from family who have gifted their photos to me. Then, you can regift photos back to friends & family in the gifted frames, if you like. Or donate the frames. I’m just particular!...See Morewhat to put on walls next to fireplace
Comments (8)Could be the photo, but proportions and balance feel off: fireplace opening and tv feel really small, and the molding and wall colors are not working with each other or complementing the stone; creating a really busy wall. Before deciding on what items to add, consider the entire wall, so it’s not as broken up and busy. I’d paint brass on fireplace black and given hearth is awkward, suggest accessorizing to help offset. I’d paint the molding (tv will disappear) and the side walls a deep grey that complements the stone. Can’t find good examples, but hope pics below help with imagining a more harmonious/impactful wall. It could be stunning and more modern. Then look for wall decor; suggest wood to help tie in the mantle and especially the two shelves that feel lost. I found acoustic panels on etsy (all kinds of designs are available) that would be real statement pieces. Be sure of the right proportions, so first tape out sizes on wall. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1132762155/acoustic-panel-3d-wood-wall-art-wooden?click_key=a79700df36c86f25fc4ca02535e444824f16fbab%3A1132762155&click_sum=f8647117&ref=landingpage_similar_listing_top-1&frs=1...See Moretommyr_gw Zone 6
