As a cottage industry, selling worms might give you a little spending money. It's all in your approach. Down here we have alot of people who set up produce stands out of the back of a pickup truck selling stuff in season. Each Saturday I see a woman selling tamales of all things on the same corner near my home. She has a simple sign that says tamales, no price no details. I've never stopped but I've seen people buying from her. She has a couple coolers sitting in her trunk. She obviously has a following and a good product that she can sell for a profit as she has been doing it for at least a couple years. I would never try to sell worms out of my home. You do not need that kind of disruption to your life. The way to sell is price them right offering a good number for a little less than the local bait shops. Have the worms pre-counted into little cups that you keep in a cooler. Make a couple signs saying fishing worms and scout out a couple locations where the fishermen pass. Sit out there in a lawn chair and a thermos of coffee and read the paper for a few hours each Saturday morning. See what happens.

When people are sold worms there is a great expectation that each worm is... a worm that they can identify as such in the palm of their hand on the day of purchase. Please let the seller of these worms know of your inquiry on this page and let them know "real worm people" want to know, "Where's the Worms!". We are not talking about sea monkeys here. EVERYBODY knows what a worm looks like. Do not they? Baby worms should be sold as such. If not... is there a better business bureau? If not... just mentioned here should be more than enough. "Not a single worm to be found." This makes me angry. Also the bags... were they plastic? should not of been sealed. Did she advertise baby worms? If not then tell her you have a bridge to sell her. A baby bridge. Or a handfull of beans. She already layed an egg. And it is not golden.

Hi All; Worms can and many species do live completely submerged in water. The oxygem these worms breath is the gas form of air in the water. Water is the vehical in which the gases carry the air to the worms skin. It is also the the vehical that gases leave the worm same process in reverse. The slime on the worms body is the first thing oxygem goes through to be taken in and the last thing the gases go through on the way out. The gases produced strickly by worms in their motablizium is expelled in their castings for the most part. Anerobic conditions do not exist in a worm bin that has sufficient airflow. It is not created by the worms themselves it is created by microbial activities and the gases from that activity being captured by water and the air in the water being exchanged for the captured gases. The osmosis porcess of breathing that worms use allow the muscle activity get fresh oxygen directly and the blood pics its oxygen from the muscle tissue and distributes the oxygen from there to the internal structures of the worm that need it. Worms activities (digesting organic material)do not require any oxygen the process is breaking down complex material into simplar molecular combinations or the elements that make up their castings. Worms themselves produce little green house gas. The other organisms far exceed the worms generation amounts. As I said I know of no studies that have seperated worm from the microbes so that only worms contribution can be measured.
