Synthetic 2 Cycle Oil ?
Comments (24)Green Valley STIHL has three "Grades" of synthetic the last time I looked. They are conventional, synthetic blend, and full synthetic. They recommended the synthetic blend for cleaner burning with less carbon deposits. Then, because the 4 mix engines were still having some carbon build-up that required additional maintenance, they came out with the full synthetic 2 cycle oil they called "Ultra" which they tested and found reduced carbon deposits. If all this is true, I think it is a good reason to use synthetic oil mix over conventional oil. But, that's just my opinion. Sorry I misunderstood your first post. I must have had a "senior moment". Thanks for your response. Charles Ranheim...See MoreVegetable Garden Status Report Part 2
Comments (34)- Just pick the first batch of peas and ended up with just over 10 lbs shucked. There was more to be picked but the bowls were full!! - Sugar Snap peas are almost done (thank goodness) - Yellow Bush Beans are ready to be picked - Carrots are maturing nicely and are being attacked by grasshoppers - beets vary in size but some could be picked and roasted... yumm! - kale is HUGE (and no cabbage worms ... yet), kohlrabi is almost big enough to pick, and turnips are a nice size - swiss chard has been ready for a while - onions & garlic are HUGE this year - cauliflower has nice size heads, ready to pick soon before cabbage worms get too bad - lots of green tomatoes but nothing ripening get - some zucchini and papaya pear are ready for harvesting - spaghetti squash is behind even though they are monster plants this year! my largest is about the size of a baseball (hard ball not soft ball), last year they were almost full size but green in the beginning of august - tators - Norland harvestable and plants healthy, Yukon Gold harvestable and plants starting to die back - should be able to pick my first greenhouse cucumber within the week :) - Sunflowers starting to open .... and I'm so glad I can start harvesting (& blanching) because that means I have no time for weeding!!! :)...See MoreI have chard and dino kale, full grown..for free!
Comments (11)Ok, for starters - does anyone realize how much momfryhover was offering? OMG..... The end result was over 20+ lbs of greens!!! They are all washed, sorted and bagged for delivery to peeps that need and want them. What is it they say about no good deed goes unpunished? Yeh...I've got one BIG achin' back but!....It's SO WORTH IT! Momfryhover ...thank you SO very much! You have a lovely backyard. My grand-daughter fell in love with it immediately. She's been raised helping me garden and the benefits of that were SO obvious today. But I have to confess that there is probably one Kale plant left that didn't get harvested as it might have otherwise. Lexi said she just couldn't take away the shade that the garden toad needed. LOL! How cool is that the a 14 yr old city kid would even know that???? The end result is I have over 20 lbs of Kale & Chard that I'll be sharing a LOT. I had one family in mind to begin with but there was so much I think I'm going to be able to spread the wealth to 5 families with the Chard. And ...ahem...I'm keeping just a skillet or two for myself. Again Nancy, thank you so very much. For much more than just the veggies...this was a great "opp" day with my oldest g-daughter....See MoreDino king she's finally a mom
